Monterey/ Pebble Beach auction thread

The most original ( late cars i.e. 1938/1939) are the Fred Simeone car, the MM winner, the Hugh Taylor car ( the restoration of which by Neil Twyman who also restored my 6C inspired me on resuscitating the color of the 500MD 564(424) , and the Le Mans coupe a one off part of the Alfa factory collection, in my mind the most astonishing one for those interested in race cars, not in show cars.

I can't speak to the values on 250 GT Series II cabs, but I disagree on the speed and being able to fit in them. I've driven other 60s era Ferraris and I don't feel a noticeable difference in speed between the models, granted I haven't driven a GTO or 250 GT SWB. As to size, I'm 6 foot, 195 lbs and I fit fine. On looks, I always show these pics, remember, one of these just sold for $18 mil

I was never a fan of the 250 PF Cabriolet SII which looks too odd with its high up front screen and its far too long rear end.

And the 250 Lusso looks -IMO- more like a ladies Ferrari....

I agree the 250 S2 looks odd. That is also because the series I is so much nice and more good looking.

As to the Lusso. It perhaps the most beautiful Ferrari ever made in my opinion. Elegant. Yes Feminine. But its soo beautiful. I only wish the back was more harmonious and back window had a slightly different angle (more like the 275 GTB).

Other than that the Lusso in my books is among the prettiest Ferrari ever made.

That car had a lot more than a bad paint job wrong with it.

 

The long term low pricing of the 250GTE still lingers.

I would but I cannot post pictures, so that would seem pointless. It would be great to have details and pictures of every 2.9 chassis made.
