I am nearly (nearly) 100% certain it is on with tape but I wanted to double check before I tried to remove it.

What is the best way to remove it? Sawing dental floss under it? I think I can find some of that - or is there a better way?

sorry I didn't see the removal part of your question ... dental floss works, I soaked behind the emblem with some "Goo Gone" as well. That loosened up glue a bit.

Umm? be sure there are not post in the emblem... take a look behind the carpet in the trunk... I thought mine had these little round push pin retainers - they are single use & cheap to get.

emblem tape is strong - I'd use heat to heat up the area as well then use the dental floss...

Put A little bit of WD-40 or any oil behind it as you slowly pull it away helps, works for me before.

Thanks, guys. I'll double check peek behind the carpet and if there are no pins, I'll get going with floss, wd40, goo gone and a hair dryer.

I bought a NOS one on eBay. Mine looks like someone stuck it on the back of the car over 30 years ago :)

If yours is the same as my 84 QV, then there's no pins.

I would expect there is no one here more qualified to use dental floss than you!

    Hey Dr. Tommy,
Why are you removing the emblem?
And will Goo Gone damage paint?

My emblem looks like butt. All faded and everything plus it has the decades of wax around the edges I just can't get to completely.

I found a really nice one on eBay, NOS. I want to get mine off, clean under it and put the new one on.

Doc, if you are good with your hand and have an airbrush you can restore the emblem yourself. Or have someone do it for you which I did. Here's the pic of mine the MikeC did for me years ago.

I know Mike well. He did my helmet. Amazing talent.

I plan or fixing up my old one and keeping it in a safe place. I just wanted a "just in case" backup.
