Sorry but it appears the original article was published in May and may not even be a direct quote Michael Schumacher health update: Former Ferrari president hints that Schumi's condition is improving - it seems to a refer to an interview he gave CNN which has no doubt already been used to raise hopes

 

What a strange world F1 is...

Die on the track and you will become a god, a flawless hero, and be worshipped and glorified every day...

Disappear after a horrible accident far from F1, and you will just be considered as less than a piece of trash (that is ok to bad-mouth and bash), and be thrown in the garbage and forgotten

 

It really isn't that bad - we haven't forgotten him (never will) but there hasn't been any news - Tifosi12's post a little bit further back has been the only credible news we've heard.

That's not what I see in this thread, or elsewhere. The fact that so many fans worldwide are still anxiously awaiting news tends to say the opposite.

Sorry, It wasn't directed at your forum at all.

But yesterday there was the 25 years anniversary of Schumacher debut I think, so it could have been an nice occasion to finally remember him a bit, but I saw nothing in my national media about it, apart from this statement "Schumacher cheated to win" (and now some people think that he won only by cheating)

I don't know if something nice was said, that was the only thing media retained... So I find that a bit depressing

In fear there may be something lost in translation here. It's Lauda and Symonds offering their opinion, it isn't the BBC making these statements.

Not at all. He is just telling how it is. He said MS cheated (as evidenced by all the FIA penalties he got) and he said that's exactly what he had to do. No disrespect, just factual

 

Sorry 5 Live is like listening to fingernails on a chalk board. The worst is Jenny Gow. There are much more unbiased sources for F1 news. Autosport is much better.

Symonds comments are particularly interesting. He explains well MS and why there was a disconnect between his normal character and certain actions on the track. No different than Senna.

It's the competitive and win at all costs nature that made both drivers who they are, including their flaws.

 

Define cheating. Passing under yellow?

How many competitors did Verstappen drove off the track today?
It is up to you whether you do a review showing his first victory or a review showing only todays race and you get a complete different picture. Those not liking Schumacher allways showed just the bad moments and even made bad moments out of nothing. And the FIA clearly showed today that they are not an institution one should rely on.
And it was always Schumachers fault even when it was the team. When something was wrong with the car it was Schumacher cheating.

 

Guys, let's not go further down this particular road out of respect for his condition.

Well... a top driver is really inseparable from his team and Schumacher never once abdicated responsibility for his car in favor of finger-pointing at the team. A multiple world champion from Schumacher's era (before all the electrical crap) probably oversaw every aspect of his car and functioned as a senior manager on the team.

Apart from that, I agree with your lamentations on the biased reviews he often gets. It's part of the curse of genuinely being the greatest of all time - there is only one GOAT and his name is Micheal Schumacher.

Well, they had no problem separating Alonso from crashgate

 

It made the 94 Benetton a WDC winning car and a strong competitor for 95.

True and a valid point. It was Benetton which added all the cheating software into the cars electronics and tempered with the fuel rig. Wasn't MS. But he was the beneficiary and the reason they did it in the first place.

That said I was appalled by the FIA's lousy decision to ban MS for several races because he scratched the undercar wooden plank while going over the cerrated curbs at Spa (IIRC). That was just getting back at him for the LC and TC, which they couldn't prove and to keep the WDC open.

And just to put things into perspective: Lauda was spot on when he said that it was MS' job to cheat. Everybody did that. But not everybody tried to drive people off the track. That's dirty. Not that MS invented that and not that it still isn't done as we saw in today's race. Still doesn't make it pretty.

To be clear: I don't fault MS for the LC, TC and fuel rig (and whatever else the team came up with). I do fault him for driving into Hill and then trying to do the same with Villeneuve, but the FIA took care of that.
