    1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello 26883mi $140K~Firm
    Full service history since day one... factory Carbon fiber package only mods are Tubi Mid pipe and 20mm wheel spacers on the rear.
    This car was a Euro Spec car and was converted to us by JK Technologies in Maryland.
    All books and tool kit come with the car as well.

    As far as I know it's not a very long process to convert to us specs car is a very nice example of the 550m great car to drive. Also has a prodrive carbon spoiler that was removed by previous owner.

    One consideration, if you buy a "grey market" car, be sure to tell your insurance company, before there is any claims. Talked to a guy a few years back, he had bought a grey market car(think it was a Mercedes), had a wreck. BIG hassle with his own insurance company, some of the damaged parts were Euro spec, very expensive, & the insurance really fought the owner on the claim because he had not told them the car was not American spec.

    All insurance companies require a vin to insure...the vin will show its a non-USA car immediately...

    But will the person at the insurance company know, or take time to investigate the vin to realize the car was not originally sold in America? It would be interesting to see what information the insurance companies have access to. Perhaps some F-Chatter's in the insurance business could post for us. It would be very helpful for anyone that has, or is considering buying a grey market car. Remember a few years ago, the auction of the Ed Waterman estate (he dealt in exotics), the Feds confiscated several of the exotics that had been brought into the U.S. illegally, before the auction took place. I had called the auction company prior to the event and they told me this information. Anyone know whatever happened to those cars?

    Hello. I am an insurance agent. Many insurance carriers exclude coverage for grey market vehicles. All policies have a section "excluded vehicles" such as salvage title, commercial use, off road, etc. The VIN# may or may not contain such info. Personally, I would not purchase a grey market vehicle unless I got written confirmation from an insurance company representative/agent that coverage will be in effect.

    No insurance issues in Canada for "grey market" cars. My Japan market 550 is fully insured the same as a Canadian or US market car would be.

    That's really weird.

    Personally, no. However my friend has written off a Japanese import Skyline years ago and they gave him fair market value.

    We don't have "insured value" here in British Columbia. It's fair market / replacement value when it comes time for payout. There is a list of cars that require additional insurance but it mainly targets high dollar cars.
