How do you enjoy your tequila? A colleague gave me some anejo last Xmas, and I'm not exactly sure what to do with it...T

LOL. Can't beat free. I'm a wimp when it comes to hard liquor. I tend to gravitate towards fruity boat drinks!

Impressive. I made watermelon mojitos a summer or two back. They were sweet, it was hot out, and so you chug a couple down with seemingly little impact. Then, BAM! Face down Freddie! 😵

Tequila is one of the few liquors that I absolutely can't stand. There are others that I don't prefer, but I don't even like the smell of tequila. Don't know what it is, just don't like it. Seems this puts me in a very minority group of folks.

That sounds pretty good. I had a couple regular old mojitos at some friends last weekend. Love a good mojito.

I had a couple beers and shot of this last night. BSB-Brown Sugar Bourbon ? Heritage Distilling Co.

It sounds and smells really sweet but it isn't. It's just a good very mellow bourbon with these almost bizarre caramel notes and flavors. Good stuff. And a local product to me.

Nice Cabernet. Under $20 and apparently scored with a few winners. [IMG]

    TEQUILA!!!!!
My mother in law was a snowbird and made a habit of buying me Tequila on her cross border trips. I must have sampled most of the 100% Agave Tequilas and my advice is SIP SIP SIP!
Chill it for friends just starting but don't let the them shoot it. Nothing worse than someone shooting a great shot of tequila.

    Great advice!

I really HATE when somebody buys me a shot of Patron. Number one? Though Patron DOES make some tasty tequilas, most places just give you an overpriced thimble of Patron Silver - which I'm not terribly fond of.

Some ways I like tequila? My favorite is probably Clase Azul Plata for a simple "silver" tequila. I like that chilled, but not on ice, for sipping.

For everyday use? I REALLY like Cuervo Especial Gold - the "cheap" stuff. Great in mixed drinks, and has a nice taste with a hint of caramel sweetness when sipped straight. Cuervo Tradicional is also excellent, just slightly more expensive, and a bit more smokey with less sweetness.

Sometimes? I skip the tequila & go for the mezcal - MUCH more smokey & complex taste - great for sipping on ice. Mezcal also is incredible when used in a margarita, to bring out something just a little different.

A variety of Highland and Speyside single malts. :D

There's an amazing local brewery nearby that has a great amber/red ale called Redhead I keep on hand in fresh growlers when not drinking one of their specialty brews. Their apple pie beer in the fall is simply unreal.

    Balvenie 15 Single Barrel
    Redbreast 12 Cask Strength
    Old Pulteney 12
    Macallan 12
    Aberlour A'bundah
    Highland Park 18

Are the ones I reach for the most often. There have been some spectacular 21-25yr in the collection that I need to replace the bottles of!

Polifemo tonight. Bought 3 cases from an agriturismo outside of Assisi, Italy. Mostly Sagrantino with some added Merlot. Great table wine.[IMG]

Didn't know Crown made a Rye too. The apple Crown seems to be popular in bars around me nowadays with the youngsters. I tried a shot but I generally prefer my booze, well booze flavored.

I will admit the exception lately has been the BSB brown sugar bourbon I posted about somewhere.

Dad found this guy in the basement. I have a hard time between the brandies and the cognacs but this is tasty. His "go to" is the stock 84 unless there's a bottle of calvados on hand - While totally different, the front of your mouth and your nose definitely knows the difference btw the two countries brandies.
