Nice video, only a half-dozen mistakes or so, not bad. My favorite is that Lamborghini wanted a a compact engine so he went with a short stroke. Um...
Here's my RHD S2 Espada that I just recently acquired in Melbourne, OZ. Original color was pale green (Verde Pallido) but has been resprayed to red and its interior was retrimmed a long time ago. The buying factor was the uber rare campagnolo wheels.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi From a list prepared by others of all Espadas which were at one time registered in the Uk there were about 200. Quite a few RHD drive came back. At the time the UK importer was the sole distributor for all RHD world wide. I have the exact number on a spread sheet on anotehr computer elsewhere. Regards Paul
Thanks for this.. I did get to meet Bob in Monterey at Concorso, what great guy...I will reach out to him for sure.. The car is bit more rough that I was planning...But isn't that what always happens when you don't put your hands not the car first? Lazy me...
The sometimes verbal and always subconscious utterance of every new unrestored Espada owner ... It happens to all of us even when we DO see and drive them first. You never overestimate how much work and $ it's going to take to make them nice drivers again. I assume you met Mike T and Aaron R. in Monterey as well? Both of whom post on here occasionally. Aaron's on his second Espada and Mike's had his almost forever!
I did not get to meet Mike or Aaron though... Trying to put together the tool kit. I have the jack, ratchet wrench, lug wrench, and bag.. Need the tools..Any ideas where to find this stuff?
Hi Olivier, Hope all is well. Thank you for all your help the day with my new car.. I'm about to start the restoration and the original color was a gold. I love this color car you posted a while back, what is this color called? I was thinking of taking the car back to its original color if possible.. I also love the light greens too.. Thanks again. Best, Mike 9234 Image Unavailable, Please Login
My figures are for the UK market only, it doesn't consider Singapor, Australia, South Africa and others which got a RHD Espada. But please, share your list, I will check/cross with pleasure !
You're a VLG member so ... It's discussed there far more than it is here. The Espada thread here is rather lonely. There's the new format forum as well Home - Vintage Lamborghini Garage Fish in multiple ponds ...
Am I missing anything here? Looks to me that there bits of the grill screen missing possibly? Thanks so much Mike 9234 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, Yes and sheet metal covers that are painted black that cover up the hood hinges. This is easily fabricated and repaired. Bob Huber
I got #7524 S1 in 1985 (31 years), I didn't know at the time that it should have been classed as a parts car. It does have numbers matching chassis, engine (and transmission). It's only been the last few years that examples have sold for more than I invested ( not counting Bob Huber and my labor). Every year Bob and I break another piggybank and restore something else needed. Mike Trivich
Mike surely your are at least some of the inspiration for that statement. A testament to dedicated Espada ownership or is it affliction? LOL
Mike, I'm impressed that you still have any piggybanks left! When I bought Espada no. 1, #7323, in 1996 for $10k, we had to go to three separate buildings in Hershey, PA to round up all the parts. Seven years that one took to get back together. Sold it in 2006 for half of what I had into it so I could move on to other interests. Bought Espada no. 2, #7758, in 2011 for $25k thinking I had finally gotten a decent driver that didn't need a lot of work. And I know these cars! Now have rebuilt the engine, trans, diff, and suspension, and figure it's worth now just a bit more than I have into it at this point. If I spend another $30k to replace the original paint and interior (which I'll never do) it'll be worth just a bit more than I'll have into it. And I'm a lucky one. Aaron
don't get me going ...................................................................................... Gary S2#8394
Oh you're already gone ... but you also have a very nice car which you enjoy a lot. I think you'd get most of your money back but that is probably going to change as prices continue to sag a bit.
Bob friends in the last 2 years or so have urged me to sell but I really don't think even for stupid money I could ever sell this car . My street was being paved and I have a bum right shoulder so that combined I didn't drive it for 6 weeks . Yesterday it started right up first crank and I put well over 100kms in the morning alone . So far since 2010 during and after resto I have clocked just over 21,000 kms and it has never really let me down . A testament to a great old car if maintained properly. Gary S2#8394
You should listen to your friends.....Sell both and buy that secret Ferrari in your nightly dreams !!!
Aaron Bob, Laust and I caravaned to Jack's shindig in San Diego last weekend. Bob (S3) and I (S1) with our Espadas. Laust with his twinturbo Jalpa on the road again. No oil, water or jump needed. Bob did have to diagnose/repair Joel's Ferrarri, again. We even beat a few Aventadors to the events. The Little Italy show was packed. Friends, cars and food. Can't beat it. That's what it's all about. Sorry you couldn't make it. Mike
