See Giannino Marzotto's book Ferraris at the Mille Miglia, Red Arrows, published by Giorgio Nada Editors in Italy.

The 1948 Ferrari 166 Inter Coupe Touring S/N 007S #455 driven by Pietro Barbetti / Umberto Berti had "Touring Coupe" coachwork.

It finished 170th overall and 19th in the GT 2-Litre Class.

This is the kind of thing I find so fascinating about Ferrari Chat. I have a fairly extensive file on 007. It might be a good idea for this article be added to the Barchetta page or the Google site for 007. tonga's crew

Picture taken near Kaikoura in the South Island of New Zealand. Gorgeous car in a gorgeous part of NZ.

The original Farina look is just timeless beauty. You won't really appreciate the beauty of this design until you realize what the automotive world had to offer in 1949.

This is a fabulous car, and the owners use her as she was intended, as they do their other cars - certainly no "garage queen". Now fitted with steel rims to replace the painted wires in these photo's.

Just to make clearance on the history of this car. I read everywhere that the car was "rebodied" by Farina. We have pics of it in 1955 in the US still with Touring body. In 1955 Stabilimenti Farina was already closed. The car today is fitted with an existing Farina body from another car (I guess it's the missing berlinetta 031S) or, less likely, rebodied with a complete reconstruction of a Farina body (but it makes little sense). Thoughts?

You may want to check your sources ("I read everywhere").
It is well known and documented that then 007 S owner Thomas B. Wiggins of Middletown/NJ on 21 October 1971 purchased from Walter Lewis Hagström in Oyster Bay/NY for US$ 250 the Stabilimenti Farina body coming from 031 S. No doubt you are aware that 007 S was then for sale in December 1993 and sold to Phibs Rinaldi in New Zealand. Rinaldi showed 007 S with the Stab. Farina body at Ferrari's 50th Anniversary meeting in Rome and Maranello (31 May 1997).

Thank you for confirming my hypotesis. In fact the information you reported is probably well known and documented but where can I read it is still a mistery. For sure not on this forum, where 007S is always claimed to have been 'rebodied' by Farina, nor on the most common sources (books and web) on this topic. Thanks again anyway,
    Michele

In various articles about Ferraris bodied by Stabilimenti Farina (Prancing Horse, Cavallino, etc.).
