It would be fair to say yesterday was a special day, one of those days which sticks with you for a long time. A memory that's recounted for years and the images remain vivid.

The GTO yelped into life at 6am and I'd imagine most of the neighbourhood weren't too amused, the Daytona woke up next and the orchestra departed into gloom, on route to meet the TDF.

I had seen this TDF before and was left amazed by its lines and in this instance the colour under the artificial showroom lights. I was wrong.

Artificial lights do nothing for this car, its true splendour is only really revealed under natural light.

Has anyone had a 599 GTO next to a TDF? If they have I haven't seen the pictures, has anyone played the incredible mechanical orchestra that a GTO and a TDF create? I can tell you without question I had instant goose bumps. I was offered a passenger ride in the TDF and WOW. Its raw and the V12 has the howl in the mid range which gives rise to a scream right at the top of the rev range and the acceleration is savage, the gearbox is abrupt, that's the best way to describe its near instant shifts.

Seeing the GTO next to the TDF was incredibly special, the setting made it even more so. Then the Daytona turned up and we had a line up of some of the greatest front engine Ferrari V12's.

This rather hasty post cant really describe how amazing this morning was but I hope the pictures do. Suffice to say in the TDF following the GTO up a mountain pass, the sun rising, the picturesque valley below us and the two cars creating an aural masterpiece. I am busy writing an article on the TDF GTO experience, will post it up when I have finished it. At one stage we had the whine and howl of the Daytona accompanied by the two modern V12's.

Enough of my waffling! Let the pictures do the talking.

I could imagine how incredible the gto and tdf would sound together. It's nice to compare it to the Daytona as well.

Nice pics. Looking forward to reading the article on the GTO/TDF experience. I'd love to hear your opinion on which car evinces that purer intangible feeling of "raw visceral specialness". Single clutch vs. dual clutch, no RWS vs. RWS, extra 100 hp, etc. Does newer technology always carry the day ? I'd think no or nobody would ever buy an "old" car.

Aesthetics are more subjective - GTO has been characterized as a Viper look whereas TDF has been said to look like a Z06. GTO looks lithe and slender compared to the more muscular looking TDF. Personally I think they both look spectacular. Like Camlet1 I'm also jealous (but at least Camlet1 is getting a TDF to join his GTO).

This is what heaven looks like. What is the name of the colour for the TdF?
