    Hey everyone,

I've had my car for a couple of days now. LOVE it. 2017 F12, Black/Black. The only thing that is odd is that my alarm keeps going off when it is parked in the garage. There is no other car in the garage and I've checked for animals of any kind. Anyone ever had this issue?

    Thanks!

that's a new one....but congrats on the car!

    some speculations

    1) low voltage - otherwise known as a questionable battery. You have it on the tender?

    2) vibrations. the motion sensor can pick up vibrations (i.e. a truck goes by, shakes the garage floor, car believes it is being lifted)?

    3) an iffy or out of calibration sensor. I am unsure if that would show up as a fault code on the DEIS, do you have all the doors/hood closed? I think the new tender attaches with the MagSafe, in our F12 we had to run the cord out of the (closed) hatch and sometimes it didn't think it was closed all the way....

I think (?) that there is a way to detect why the alarm trips; can't recall if its coded. (eg. one of my old cars would flash the LED light in a given pattern). I think the F12 does as well, would have to consult the manual, that may point you in a direction.

Another test would be to disable the lift sensor next time you park it (on overhead console) and see if the problem still occurs

Thanks for the suggestions. You will not believe what it ended up being. I left my iphone in the car overnight and for some reason there is a glitch in the blue tooth that trips the alarm in the F12s. I called my Ferrari Dealer to see if they had an idea and that was the first thing they mentioned.

That's interesting so that means the car's security system is linked to the car's entertainment console. This could leave it open for hacking and disabling it altogether....

actually this is the same issue that gets a lot of threads going that "my infotainment system isn't responding", or "the volume won't work".

The bluetooth in the car and in the phone are "glitching" (technical term ha ha) and the car thinks for some reason that the phone is on an active call....so it mutes the volume (i.e. "volume doesn't work"), won't allow new calls or respond to inputs ("my infotainment system isn't working") and it will remain powered on until the call is hung up....which can drain power ("and now my car won't start, dead battery").

To be fair, we've had identical issues with the PCM in our 2016 Porsche Cayenne. In the case of the PCM, we had to delete the pairings and reset the phone (remember to back it up!) to clear it and get it working. On our F12, we did have a software update, but it happened again when an iOS update (or a new phone) upgraded the bluetooth version.

The 90% fix (which we've done across 6 cars) is to clear all bluetooth pairings on all phones and cars (i.e. delete them) and re-pair. I say 90% because in the case of the Porsche, we had to do a reset.

We also had the software update on the Speciale, which had same issue, which helped (i.e. has not happened again).

I complained to Ferrari about the left display not reacting correctly with infotainment, they basically said that was not important. I find the CarPlay interface filled with troubles (may start another thread on this :)) The other day I unplugged my stupid iPhone from the CarPlay plug and plugged into the regular USB connector next to the CarPlay plug (on a Cali T) and found most everything worked as expected:). I have had no alarm issues though.

I am going to speculate, but I think more likely the infotainment staying "on" drained the battery and the alarm tripped with the low voltage.

Having said that, the "native" Ferrari system only receives GPS and (if you have it) satellite signal data, so compared to other cars (eg. OnStar, Sync, U Connect) systems, less likely to be remotely hacked - but anything is possible. Remote key cloning to me is still the bigger risk

We have CarPlay in a few of our cars, and I've rented a few cars lately that have it. My experience is 1) you are either IN Carplay, or in "native" mode. Carplay does not seem to like when you are trying to use native features (eg. SiriusXM) with Carplay, even in background. 2) plugging in a media device into the USB just confuses the head unit more - they default over. (my kids use the USB to charge their iPhones, I had to end up getting them 12V chargers 3) Carplay is brilliant in its simplicity, and Siri works great. Unfortunately, aside from being easy to use, Carplay still doesn't offer much in the way of Apps. Apple Maps has gotten better, but Waze is still a better app; and of course, Apple will not let Waze adapt their app for Carplay compatibility. IMHO Apple had better improve the ecosystem of Carplay apps or they are going to see a dwindling of interest. BTW $4K for Carplay in a Ferrari, yet standard on a VW Golf? hmm.
