    Hello all,
Does anybody have any tips/tricks on removing the rubber wings/buttress on back of our Mondials (mine a QV) as my left side seems to be lifting up at the back and I want to remove & see why (thinking maybe rust underneath)

    Cheers,
    Rob.

You will need to start inside and remove the headliner that is against the rear window. This way you get access to the 3 nuts of the top wing, which you till need to remove to be able to take of the side wing.

Once the top wing is removed. You can unbolt the 4 nuts inside the trunk area (2 on each side). After that you can pull the side wing into the direction of the exhaust and it slides off.

My guess is that the iron has bent upwards that holds the clamp in the middle. you can hammer it down a bit and most likely you will need to give it a anti rust treatmet and paint it.

Just did mine 3 weeks ago.

    Hi Tijn,
Thanks for the speedy reply and great tips, I thought there might be a few sneaky hidden fastening points so this will help a lot :) yes hoping a simple realignment needed..lol
It must be rubber wing fixing time for us all.. :)
    Cheers,
    Rob.

The metal strips are set in the rubber and sometimes they rust through. Worst case is you have to renew the metal clip. I have a 2nd hand one about somewhere, not sure if left or right.

Thanks Mike, yes will know what I am in for this weekend when I attempt the removal of the offending left wing, I might be in need of a replacement one, so if anybody has leads on a replacement one let me know.. here's hoping its a fix and re-fit solution but I might be looking for one... :)

If the steel strip has broken or rusted through, you should be able to cut it out and fit a new one by bedding it in an epoxy resin.
Eurospares had a couple of used ones last time i looked
