That is a counterfeit item. Not authentic Louis Vuitton.

Also, I would definitely not refer to this as being an "antique." It is much too new to qualify under any definition of "antique." Latches and combination lock, materials inside, as well as many other details. Surfaces and condition are suspect as well.

I'm inclined to believe this is true. The centering of the LV are not correct and not correct on both sides.

    Please provide documentation.

I was once told by a LV store that real LV bags never have an LV on the main panels at a seam.

It may not meet the criteria of an "Antique" but can be real.

MELS: This is not personal, but as I stated it "does not appear to be real" based on LV's own description of how to identify their items.

IF I am proven wrong, then I will apologize correctly and quickly as possible.

This bag appears to violate the first rule in this list, it has stitching over the LV monogram which is a big no no. Also does not appear to be symmetrical as mentioned by previous poster but on truly old bags it appears that rule is not always followed, how old is this suitcase?

Mel, I still noticed that you did not update your listing for the mirror that I was going to buy... Mirror is located 2 HOURS NORTH of Ventura! For someone that needs to pick it up wouldn't you say that is important.???

It's entirely possible you got duped at the time if it does in fact turn out to be fake. It would be unfortunate but certainly not unheard of.

This makes absolutely no sense, but it is loud.

Why would he want to "put his money where his mouth" is if he thinks it is fake?

Are you saying he should buy it? How else can he comply with your loud invectives?

It is interesting to look at your history, it appears your sole reason for being here is to sell stuff.

    Are you a sponsor?

The problem with this picture is the pic itself is at an angle, not taken directly in front of the case which would make it appear not to match up.

I thought that too, but my circled items are clearly not 'kosher' for LV.

I have nothing against the seller, I am not saying he is a fraud [lord knows we've seen well qualified persons do themselves in and MELS is not seemingly at all in that venue]. I believe this may be a honest mistake or, like I said I'm an idiot for not knowing this particular presentation to which I will take full responsibility and apologize.

I am just pointing out that I may have been interested, but from what I can see clearly is LV on the right seam [especially], clearly shows it incorrectly. Who knows, this may be a typically rare event but not from my understanding, especially at almost $3k.

As for his caps, my eyesight is poor and I almost appreciate the font....I'm certain it's not meant to scream at us [at least I hope so...].

I've stirred this pot enough.....it will take its own course I was just wondering and asking for documentation to which he replied
. IF that's what it takes for quantification, then I'm out of this quest.

I don't know you, and I don't know if this is authentic or not. If it is I'd call it "vintage" not "antique" but that's just me.

What I do know, is the more someone protests, AND THE LOUDER THEY PROTEST, the more likely they are to be wrong, or blustering to try and reinforce a point of view that has come into question.

Instead of internet yelling, maybe posting an image of the same or a similar vintage LV bag would serve to positively reinforce your position that it's real.

FWIW, my wife was the GM of Tod's on Rodeo Dr. for years. Every season she was required to get a new bag. At the end of the season she couldn't cary it anymore, so I would eBay it for her. I can't tell you how many times the buyer demanded a return because it was "fake." One even brought a bag into a local Tod's who told them it was fake.

    Hi Mel.

Sorry if we touched a nerve.

Some of us were trying to be helpful.

oh, and by starting your posts with " [ size=+2 ] " and ending it with " [ /size ] " (take out all the spaces between the brackets and quotes) you can make the type bigger but still not yell!!!

    Thanks,

    Dave
