Interesting. The ABS fault wasn't previously mentioned but ofcourse like others have said if it was somehow 'sensing' phantom wheelspin (due to a fault) and sending messages back to the ignition ecu's via CAN bus that would definately cause the ecu's to react as if slip had been detected.

A possible easy check would be to simply disable ABS/ESR/EBD totally. Unplug the wiring loom to the unit, its in the front compartment behind the inspection panel on the left hand side. Ofcourse you'll get a light illuminate on the dash but it won't be able to send messages anymore so if it was doing something very strange it would stop immediately.

This is well worth checking as soon as possible and reporting back...

I can report back that it makes no difference if I disconnect the abs... All is does is have the lights on the dash :)

Another thing that I have also noticed that with the clutch switch plugged in it won't hold a steady rpm say 2500... It will hunt but with it bypassed it will hold steady rpm...

So this pretty much eliminates ABS as being the root cause.

Did you ever try to swap over the ecu's? Left to right?

Obviously replace the clutch switch first but I'm really beginning to think there is something wrong with one of the ecu's.

If you had access to someone else with a 360 spider, you could verify this by swapping over the (2 of) ignition ecu's and behind the seats the immobilizer and wireless reciever boxes (2 of) with the donor car, then use their remote to unlock and start the car...

This method requires no use of SDx's or anything else but just takes a bit of time but it would allow you to eliminate (or not) if they are the cause.

So I get 12 volts across the switch when with the key on and it's just sitting... If I press down the clutch it goes straight to 0 no voltage... I try and do it slow and it just goes straight to 0...

Roger, I rechecked mine and I owe you an apology (and possibly $40).

You are correct, this is a binary switch and indeed the resistance is either 0 or infinite, and voltage is either 12 or 0, neither is variable.

Not an excuse but being fresh and in the daylight made the difference. Turns out I was to hasty to interpret my analog meter rising and falling with pressure/release of the pedal and did not do proper diligence to verify I could actually get a constant reading between 0 and infinity.

    (360+volt's stock plummets! )

What's next? Take it to a bonafide dealer?

So I talked to the dealer that sold my car new in the uk... Talked to a really good tech there called dean.. He told me the clutch switch controls timing to stop the power coming on too hard when you shift gears. He asked me to call him back in a few days so he can look into it for me...

I tried to swap the computers but no change.. He also told me to check for 12 volts at the cam variator selonide as they have some issues with them only getting 8 volts and not operating as they should and they won't throw a cel... I have to check that and see how I go..

So the dealer is telling me all the clutch switch is for is cruise control... Yet they don't come with cruise control... And they don't know what's wrong they told me to just drive with the pedal bypassed...

Best you get back onto Dean in Nottingham as he is an acknowledged expert on these cars in the uk. What he tells you will be spot on, so have faith.

I could belive the lack of knowledge of Brisbane Ferrari they and the car for 3 days and told me nothing i didn't already know it was like i knew more than them, telling me i needed to fix things like a worn engine mount before they could correctly diagnose the car (don't know how a backfire is related to an engine mount) when they finally went for a drive with me they said they didn't know what it was and don't know how to fix it, and then said that the car is getting old and they don't have time to do stuff like that. i know it new but is a 2004 360... very disappointed in their service...
