Thanks..... The mutt got lucky. They canceled it because they had a dog with aggression issues in for a procedure and mine can be male dog aggressive. Vet didn't think the staff could handle both during the day.

Yeah. Me too! Wife forbids it. 😠 We made saganaki (flaming cheese, Greek style, ouzo is the fuel) for a friend who is from Chicago. She made me do the pyrophorics outside. Makes a great show!

Tonight was leftover night. A small piece of brisket that I made a few months ago. Still pretty moist. Best brisket I've ever made IMHO. Little bit of leftover rib eye steak, garnished with the datil salsa I made from the peppers Ron sent me. Steamed broccoli. Steamed corn on the cob (I think it's past its peak until next summer 😩). Served with a nice red we picked up at Costco: Gabbiano Chianti Classico, 2012.

Steaks from other night when we grilled them. Not bad for a Kroger special. I fear that old age has set in. It's going to take us about three meals for the wife and I to get through. In my youth, I think I could have eaten them both in one sitting. 😬

After grill action. Hatch marks getting somewhat better. Cooked them on the BGE.

Not a bad day. Grabbed some sushi take out. Meeting my brother and SIL for dim sum lunch in China town today. I might just make it regular Chinese for more left overs and have dinner for tonight.

Cooked a 2.5 lb piece of Tri Tip this past weekend for dads birthday. Owe it to you guys for informing me about this cut of meat. Very tasty. Thanks fellas.

I consider myself a bit of a classic guy and have disregarded most of these sous vide pictures but I can't say I'm not intrigued...

Kind of a rush job, but otherwise my wife was gonna bring home KFC.

Doing 2 grass fed NY Strips at 129 degrees for the hour & 1/2 until she gets home. Will sear them on the grill when she arrives, and "sides" will be some form of chopped spinach & baked potatoes.

My food cost for the meal will be about $13, all in. Neglecting the propane to get the grill up to speed, the bit of butter, sour cream, pepper, nutmeg, & whatnot for the sides? We'll certainly come out ahead of the game & have a better meal. :) Probably won't manage pictures, but for under $20 total? Gonna be hard to beat.

Though frankly? I MIGHT just shatter that $20 by using the last bit of my roquefort goat cheese spread - it shouldn't count against me, as it was gifted to me, but the little tub would otherwise be about $7.

Wow, you'd be hard pressed to get out of KFC for less than 20 bucks?!? Where did you get the NY strips from? Sounds like you got a screaming good deal on those...T

    Any pics?

We went out to Rosa's Cafe with our friends. It's a chain, but it's our friend's favorite place to eat, and she was treating!

Did Chinese for lunch and had the left overs for dinner.

KFC is alright. Its gone down hill the last few years here. I'll do fast food, but in moderation. I always somewhat regret it after. The few bucks more to get sushi take out from a decent Japanese restaurant is worth it VS say McDonalds.

OK - the $20 might be a bit of a stretch, but I haven't spent money at KFC in years.

The steaks were from the local grocery store. They had the regular NY strips on sale for $5.98/lb, but as they only had a couple of those left, the butcher gave me the grass fed ones (otherwise $15.98/lb) for the same price. SCORE!

Oh - wife's first comment upon trying the steak? "These are really tender!" :)

Rosa's has a location College Station that we ate a lot at when our daughter was in college. Great food at a decent price.

Tom, have you ever eaten at Chop House Burger in Arlington? Going to Plano (again) next week to see other daughter and it was highlighted on DDD. Ate at Grub Burger in Plano last weekend when I moved her down and it was pretty good.
