Joe I recently sourced 6 for the Miura SV. If you need help let me know. FYI it was almost $100 per bolt...
The Downdraft thread may be the best thread on the internet... The wealth of knowledge continues to grow!
Does anyone know where the Lamborghini Axxes Quetzal is today? Circa 1984 Patrick Mimran started the Marini Lamborghini program, as Ive mentioned earlier in this thread. The idea came from Ferruccio's own Riva built in 1968, fitted with two Lamborghini V12 engines. Simply put, Mimran thought it was a way to boost the company's exposure and bottom-line, and he gave the engineers free rein to develop powerful marine engines. The first boat was designed in 1984 by none other than famed boat designer Aldo Cichero and named the Axxes Quetzal, the first purpose-built Lamborghini powerboat. It was powered by two modified carburetted Lamborghini V12 engines with an increased to a displacement of eight litres, the two engines had an output of 550HP each, capable of propelling the 39-foot Axxes Quetzal to a top speed of 65 knots (75mph). You guessed it, the engines were a pair of 8-litre DOWNDRAFT carburetted units! What I would give to hear that thing on full song. Anyway, if anyone knows of the whereabouts of this boat, someone would really love to know. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Of course, Mimran's Marini Lamborghini program lead the company into offshore competition, and the first offshore boat designed the following year also by Aldo Chichero, was the Masha Quetzal (first image) which sported the looks of a purebred racing boat. Its aluminum body was an improvement from the Axxes Quetzals glass-fibre hull, and it marked the successful debut of the Marini Lamborghini endeavor in the World Class 1 Offshore racing series. The two fuel-injected Lamborghini V12s delivered 1,440HP, making for a maximum speed of up to 80 knots (around 93mph). Unfortunately, Mimran sold Lamborghini before he saw the fruits of his labor, as Lamborghini eventually became World Class 1 Offshore Champions in 1994, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007. 10-time World Champions!! Unfortunately, it appears that this tradition of Lamborghini V12 engines has been discarded by Audi, and Marini Lamborghini sadly appears to have been to closed down, marking the end of an era. Too bad, anyone know why? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Joe, nice infos. thanks for sharing do not know where the boat is ...but one of the covers for the 8 liter carbed V12 engine heads is here with me Image Unavailable, Please Login
I wonder what we all consider to be high mileage for a Countach? Or the "right" number to cover in a year (they do need to be driven!) My 88.5 is currently on 71000km....
Wow! Send me some detailed images via email. Everyone should own an 8-litre Downdraft carburetted Lamborghini speed-boat! Seriously, I am looking for the 1 of 1 Lamborghini Axxes Quetzal, any and all leads appreciated.
To me "High" mileage means over 100,000kms. I'm compiling an informal list, and so far I have 5 Downdrafts that exceed this number, pending the reading of the 2 Lamborghini Club France cars (HLA12106 & JLA12307).
Anyone seen (or have) a 1988.5 car with the cigarette tariff tag still in place? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Still looking for the chassis number of this PPG 2.463.729 Argento Luna Metallizzato (Silver) Downdraft which was supplied new to Switzerland. Image Unavailable, Please Login
OH boy...I think HELL may be freezing over!! Joe, I am pretty sure I know where it is...so as much as we go back and forth...call me at the office or e mail and we can go from there...
Are you speaking of this one below previously for sale by Al Burtoni, the MASHA Quetzal? (Fuel-injected) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144913167-post3983.html We are looking for the AXXES Quetzal (Downdraft carburetted) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144913153-post3982.html These are two separate boats, please confirm which one. Thanks! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Lamborghini Masha Quetzal was also advertised for sale here, erroneously listed as a 1982 build, nonetheless, listing Daniele Audetto as one of the drivers. Mimran hired Audetto to handle PR and many will remember him in the CBS 60 Minutes Countach piece talking to Morley Safer. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Emilio just sent me this literature pice showing the specs of one of the two carburetted Lamborghini V12 eight litres 550HP engines that power the Axxes Quetzal. Interest in the boat would of course include the original Downdraft engines. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I know its not the Al one. I also know FOR SURE it does NOT HAVE any engines in it or that are available with it. Let me do some more digging and I will let you know if it is anything positive. Last time I spoke to this person, they told me there was more then one of these made, so it may not be what your looking for.
