I would not be surprised if Lamborghini made multiples of the first Axxes Quetzal or Masha Quetzal, for basically anybody who was willing to pay. Unfortunately, nobody kept track of the boats the way the cars have been recorded, and even the latter are not recorded perfectly! Understandably, there would be no interest without both original Downdraft carburatori engines in place in the original Lamborghini-built boat. Here below is the factory in late 1986 with 2 Downdrafts and what looks like the hull of the Masha Quetzal. Mimran's Lamborghini Marini program was up and running by then. Anyone know if this is JLA12186 @ Iain Tyrell's Cheshire Classic Cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login
25 years ago I saw an image of Gerhard Berger and Valentino together. Unfortunately Ive never been able to find it again. Here is Vale with F1 World Driving Champion Keke Rosberg who owned Downdraft FLA12808, and another Downdraft whose chassis number I do not recall ATM. 1986 Sport Auto magazine by the famed journalist & tester José Rosinski. What's cool about this piece is that the factory allowed him to produce its dyno-sheet roughs showing that some cars touched 470bhp Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Outtake image from the same piece shows this factory Press car with Bologna test plates taped to the rear panel, a beautiful period Emilian portrait. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great article indeed. Quote from the great engineer Giulio Alfieri when asked by José Rosinski about the rear wing: "it is useless. Worst than that, given the increase of downforce on the back of the car, it increases dangerously the lift on the front on the car".
Always a pleasure to read again article about Lamborghini from Jose Rosinsky. Thanks for the photo with Valentino and Keke Rosberg, it'll be nice if we could find this photo with Valentino and Gerhard Berger
Here is another Downdraft that Ive just discovered, chassis number ZA9C005A0JLA12414, UK-registered 1 EBH, first registered August the 3rd 1988. I took these old 88.5 pictures at what was the Ferrari main dealer near Manchester back in about 1992. Ron Strattons showroom was always worth a trip. He featured in a CAR article after buying his 288GTO and the subsequent drive home. Sorry about the quality its a picture of a picture! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for sharing Matt! That's JLA1415, and this is how it looks now, this very weekend as a matter-of-fact. Same F 919 OYR registration, I'd love Rob to tell us what the mileage is, as it looks like this car is out every weekend! Last weekend in the pouring rain, posted here a few pages ago. Ive seen it many years ago. What issue (month) is that of CAR magazine in 1983? Also, can you scan the image and post it? I recall CAR tracked him down and interviewed him in his London hotel.
This Downdraft is another Ive just stumbled across. It happens to be the very next chassis number (or two) to our own GLA12997. Nero Tenebre/Nero with black badges, chassis number ZA9C005A0GLA12995 is appropriately UK-registered 5000 JE, interestingly this car was delivered new by Portman Lamborghini and first registered on the 24th of September 1986. This image was taken this weekend. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Briefly owned by a friend of mine, who put that registration number on the car for just a few months. Incidentally, those photos were taken outside Mike Pullen's house. Mike did loads of work on it (except on the engine..) but when the owner took it on an event in Europe, something broke on one of the camshafts and he had it sent back to Carrera Sport to be fixed and then sold it on. Guess it must have been 2 years ago now.
Yes at Goodwood Revival in the " Earls Court" building where they had a compliment of Lamborghini's as per a timeline with 3 Miuras and lp400 and the tractor! Was great display.
Rob, I realize this the same car that is featured several times earlier in this thread. When new, it had white rear badges from the factory, and had a wing. It was registered 32 WKK (see below). Then it went to Keith Harmer in Essex, and it was registered D 921 FYX. Then it became D 19 MBO, the badges were painted black, and the wing was taken off. Now its 5000 JE, and the wing is back on. Your best lead will be the Lamborghini Club UK. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are videos of it when registered D 19 MBO, firstly spotted on the road near Brighton, and then accepting a trophy for winning a Concours Class. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LQ-kim5q1Fk[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdiFs0ho0WQ[/ame]
Stephen, Great to see you here. Having grown up with long, hot & dusty trips in Landrovers into the bush to visit Game Reserves in Africa with my family, I'm partial to that green thing in the background as well! Hope that Countach is running well, and never change below 6,000!
Looking good Harry. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
