488 sport exhaust system

Looking for points of view on this 488 option. My dealer hasn't had a car yet with it. I'm only interested if it enhances the sound. Thanks everyone.

 

If its same as the 458 and F12, there's only a visual change, no sound.

 

What is the cost?

I ask because on the 458, there was an option called sport exhaust that was just a color change on the tips. I think it was about $700. But there was also a sport system that was in fact, a different and louder muffler for about $4000.

 

The darker tips are $759. This is the system and I believe it's in the ballpark you quoted. I'm interested in sound enhancement since the 488 is already disadvantaged in sound because of the turbo. I have a 458 with standard exhaust with the valves opened.

 

All an aftermarket exhaust system will do on a 488 is increase the turbo whine,

I've always been told there is no louder exhust factory option on the 458. It was tips and junk, not mufflers.

 

I was in the factory last week they confirmed there is no sport exhaust option for the 488 only the tips can be changed nothing else

Ferrari does offer the optional sports exhaust mufflers, I have them on my Italia

I was told the same the exhaust options on 488s were purely cosmetic, is there another option from the factory that's sound altering?

 

How bizarre that they call them silencers.

 

On the 458 you buy them after you have the car from Ferrari.

Hi guys I am looking to do a body kit to my 488, I was wondering what you guys think of the novitec or the Vos body kit? also i wanted to upgrade the exhaust, I contacted a Novitec and they said the exhaust would siund beter with a x pipe than a straight pipe? what do you guys think?

The Novitec Rosso program for the 488 is extraordinary. I wouldn't look at anything else after seeing it. Sent you an email with some more info

 

Novitec is correct in my opinion about the x-pipe vs. straight pipe setup. During our R&D process, we fabricated both options for our 488 to see which could really capture that high-pitch sound everyone is worried about losing through the turbos. The straight pipes gave off a very throaty, bassy tone with very minimal pitch in the higher frequencies. The x-pipe we built really came through with what we were looking to offer to our 488 clients.

We experimented with the diameter of the piping as it concerns to power and sound. After several prototypes - we ended up with the best possible results. I am very confident in our exhaust suite, and honestly - while it sounds good in videos, it completely elevates the driving experience into a whole new level.

Would be interested to know if the video clip is the x pipe on its own or have sports cats been fitted as well?

 

I have it on mine. Was told no sound difference.

I was told it was just the tip style. I asked yet again when I was at the dealer ordering the GT4Lusso and they said the same thing, its just a double walled tip style.

I ended up doing the a few of the variants of the Novitec Exhaust System on my car and absolutely LOVE it! I have done the Catless Non-Valved, and the standard Cats with Non valved, as well as Valved and catless. I have a short video of the Standard Cats and NON-VALVED system which is my Favorite setup. You can also order them with your choice of tips.
