Meh, he is free to disagree. It's a speed contest imo. Very impressive to watch and listen to but no what i think of when i hear racing.

You don't have to engage with the monkeys although he's going to have recess in an hour to write about his Dad's cars.

You all know this guy who comes to C+C with the stupid aftermarket rims on his salvage exotic cause' bigger tires and the aftermarket crap. Then gets mad when the car is worth half market value. No car is ever fast enough, although they always question why more money is not faster. They don't realize that there's other things to exotics than pure speed until they get older. I have no doubt that Ferrari pads their numbers. Everyone does.

You don't have to. Nobody cares about that speed guy who berates Ferrari's.
Seriously. Nobody cares about what that guy thinks. :)

    Must be recess.
Actually, just in case the nuance is lost on you, the challenge is really for you to show up and prove up your ownership of any of the cars you claim. The race, at least with me, is a moot point but I'm still willing to put my money where my mouth is because I know you are full of crap..
So, I've already stepped up but understand the convenient logistics problem.

04g sent me photos this morning. Here is what I can state about what are on the photos:

    - two photos of a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Porsche Turbo S together in a parking garage
    - a photo of a Ferrari 458 next to a similar Porsche Turbo S in an open lot
    - a photo of titles to a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo and a 2008 Porsche 911 coupe that match the license plates on the cars in the parking garage photo. Note that the title for the Porsche only describes it as a 2008 Porsche 911 coupe; I'm calling it a Porsche Turbo S as that is what the model script shows in the parking garage photo.
    - the photo of titles includes a driver's license with a name that matches that on the Porsche title. The name on the Gallardo title is not visible as it is covered by the Porsche title.
    - the name on the Porsche title and the name on the DL matches the name on a results/standings page that he provided that purports to be for a high-speed run event; the trap speed for the Porsche in the "Exotic" category is reported as 165+ mph. There is a Ferrari F12 reported in the same category at 159+mph.

Separately, the state of the DL and titles matches the IP address location he's been posting from.

04g, In all seriousness, I withdraw my wager and will go on the record in saying I believe you. That you own a 458 and a 911T.

My only last question is this. Since you've spent 40+ posts talking bout why anybody would own a Ferrari, I just ask the same question back to you.

If 'speed' is the only thing that matters. Why the Continental GT? The 458, the salvage 360 you tried buy? You seem to enjoy the cars that are not the 'fastest' enough to buy them yourself. So unless you've sold all your cars sans the 911T, wouldn't you already *know* the answer to your question?

Hope you find this a fair and non-trolling/non-baiting question.

I'm curious to know how many took him up on the challenge to prove they are his cars?
I'm curious to know who is willing to challenge him to a straight line drag where driver skill is not a major factor?

What I have read are some constructive arguments from multiple members on how OEM's typically and deliberately distort the performance numbers by either overstating them or using purpose built vehicles to gather them. That's all I've learnt so far from this thread and interestingly, that's exactly what the OP stated in the first place.

So go ahead and keep the FCHAT lynching alive by calling him a troll, a monkey, a liar, saying he's full of **** and so on but the case remains that he's offering up all the challenges (within reason) to bolster his credibility and so far IMO his original argument and statement prevails over anecdotes and opinion.

I have stated several times that i am an F car fan, always have been and always will be. I think Ferrari builds brilliant cars. I knew the 458 is far from the fastest when i purchased it and is not a drag car. That really is not relevant to my original post. All i stated was that newer F cars are not as fast as Ferrari claims, and this is backed up by data. At that point all hell broke loose and posters started flinging mud. If we cant stay on topic and have an intelligent discussion i am just as happy to troll people back. My point is/was still valid.

I wish the 458 was more competitive as well as all other newer F cars so i would see more of them at actual events/track days. This is what would build a stronger community IMO.

P.S. I go through a lot of cars, your internet "research" is not really correct on my cars/titles. From what i remember i posted on a 360 buy thread when my buddy was looking for a 360 project shell/engine for a track car, we never ended up purchasing one.

okay fair enough. my mouth is shut. You've put up, and proved many of your claims as I asked. At this point. I am happy to say I eat crow. As for the wager, Yin literally posted your evidence 1 minute before I withdrew it (too bad for me). As I said I'm a man of my word. Per what I proposed, if you can provide the same thing title/dl/vin of the Gallardo/458 to Yin, I won't go back on the wager. I'll be happy to paypal Yin as a 3rd party the $500 I said and you keep 100% of your privacy.

Would be cool to see you on the track one day.

At this point i almost wish a Mod would clean up the whole thread and get rid of all the nonsense about proving who has what cars as thats not the original topic.

The drag race bet i am would like to do if whoever called me out will follow through and not just talk.
Cats out of the bag, my imaginary 911t is good enough to beat the F12 by about 15 car lengths, so whatever you bring make sure its good ;) I was hoping for a LaFerrari...

So who has the biggest penis so far in this thread?

    Off topic:
04G have you run your Gallardo against an F430? Is it faster?

I know its not really relevant but Id be interested to see which is faster between a 430 and a pre LP Gallardo.

Does anyone in the Bay Area have a stock Gallardo that wants to compare? Just trying to do my part to help.

gallardo is faster, no contest. It also takes about 2 hours to convert the gallardo to 2wd which makes it faster/lighter and much more fun to drive. In todays world both cars are slow.

All my docs. could be posted up as well but who knows it's me posting them? One VIN covered when using the photo of it to prove a point?
Wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong and will eat humble pie if proven so, meanwhile, I stand by my assertion that the OP is simply a troll.
This wasn't a legitimate question thread, just looking for a rise, which he got.

Because it really derailed the thread and halted any legitimate discussion. No one would take the numbers seriously from some "****head teenager trolling from his mums basement"

This thread should be locked and removed IMO. As a long time F-Chatter, decorum and decency have always been a hallmark of this forum. The blatant trolling and arrogance displayed is embarrassing.

OP made legitimate points and the butt hurt responses hurled immediately were laughable.

Even in the old days when Doc played his troll cards, the thread still felt like it was all in good fun.

To the point of the thread - Ferrari overstate their performance - supposedly no big deal. However, I guarantee you that if magazines published that the new 488 (or insert new model here) had 100 less hp than it's rival, feathers would be ruffled, regardless of how the car feels (which is less a selling point as these models progress).

I am still waiting on this guy. Since he is on the other side of the country if the bet is large enough i am willing to ship one of my imaginary cars and race his 400, the bet would cover my expenses. Also we can film this for the rest of the forum. Does that work for you Ross?

    done.
borrowing your phrase "strokes for different folks", I am just going to leave this here. Some people enjoy horse powers, some enjoy handling, some enjoy the total package, the je ne sais quois of car.
if OP posits that Ferrari may be fudging their numbers a little, it's just his belief.
my enjoyment of my car does not diminish one iota because some unknown person on the internet believe that Ferrari embellishes their products output.

In today's automotive world, acceleration is rapidly expanding by leaps and bounds. It's obvious to me at least that today, Porsche has the price/performance sector locked. If 1/4, 1/2 mile is the measure - the 911T *is* a good bet outside the holy trinity. But that may be until the next car after the 488, and then the next Lambo, and then the next x. The 911 has often been a price/performance powerhouse, I would argue the Corvette is a close second.

As far as why Ferrari hasn't caught up - it could be because the clientele as you mentioned don't necessarily demand it. Your critique is accurate in your context, I've stated as such. But no need to insult the whole group,I believe that was the main reason for the reactions and skepticisms (at least for me.)

The marque is owned and appreciated by a large and wide group. Ferrari definitely does not focus on 'bang per buck.'

As far as if they are overstating HP numbers...I open to the possibility, but in today's litigious society, I find that proposition harder and harder to believe.

I appreciate your response, and hope you find this a fair post.

" I just checked with my shipping carrier, they can have my car in chicago as early as Sept 25th. What days work best for you? My car shipping and flight expenses are $3500, so lets make it an even $10K bet to make it worth our time? I can go higher if youd like."
I offered up a hondo, essentially for you to show up, at the northwest forum. I think we can agree that my 400i is no match for anything so a moot point.
So, what was the point of your thread if not to antagonize?
