Not true. There is a calculation for HP. You can't change physics.

    formula (RPM * T) / 5252=HP

    F12
    Max. power output - 769 HP @ 8,500 RPM
    Max. torque - 519 LB-FT @ 6,750 RPM
Max. engine speed - 8,900 rpm (limiter)

I believe Porsche falls behind GTR, Z06, Hellcat, and GT350 from the performance per dollar viewpoint. Porsche's advantage is the un-measurable thrill factor.

my complaint of Ferrari is not the fact that HP may be "fudged". my complaint is their products QC falls behind that of Honda econoboxes. that and the cost of the replacement parts (but this is for another thread)

OK, your right. 1/2 mile speed is used to calculate HP. You win.

Let me try one more time...

Porsche Turbo Max. Power - 580 hp at 6750 rpm

As stated above F12 max power 769 HP was at 8500 rpm.

What is the F12 at when its at 6750 RPM? At 6750 RPM the F12 is not at peak power or peak torque.

The math says the F12 will pass the Porsche. Might be at 3 miles..

Biggest drag is air and rolling friction.

I'm just looking at the math. Show me mathematically how The Ferrari F12 is fudging its HP?

While you keep stating the trap speed proves HP, I don't know of a formula that takes trap speed.

Yeah peak hp doesnt mean much, its the area under the graph/ powerband.

Anyways I think it can be agreed that "poor" 1/2 mile peformance doesnt conclude bogus HP numbers. Too many other factors at play.

If you want to prove bogus HP , get on the dyno.

Does aero affect the trap speeds much? Say you run p1 in street vs race mode whats the difference in the speed?

Maybe Ferrari just give their cars crappy performance so old people can still handle it hahahahahahhaha

Right but both the f12 and the Porsche are in their sweet spot power bands where they make max power right off the bat, that's why gears exist. The f12 is not limited to 6750rpms and it doesn't take 3 miles for it to get to its peak range of rpm. In every gear it's in its power range. The gt3 Porsche revs even higher than the f12 and also has low torque yet with only 475hp it's an absolute killer.

Tractors hit peak hp/tq at 1500rpm doesn't mean they win races.

Not being a smartarse but have you considered that engine rpm is not wheel rpm? This is where the gear ratio will have an effect on accelerating the vehicle, not just accelerating the engine.

    Edit:
Here's a good vid demonstrating the Engine Torque vs. Power relationship at the wheel

Sorry for the late response . We just got into truckee with the Ferrari owners group charity drive. 60+ cars on some epic driving routes. Michael was also on the drive

I was at the Ferrari challenge at Sonoma . It was too wet and I have trofeos on the speciale and I didn't feel like going on the track.

I haven't caught up on the thread but I did see some people quoting 175 mph for the Porsche . That Porsche at shift sector wasn't stock. A stock gt3 or gt3rs won't break 150 mph.

This is not true, I said I'm happy to back up my wager. So far you've proven 1 of 3 claims, but not all. As I said, my word is worth more than my pride (and $500) so it's almost there for the taking.

    What you've proven:

    1) Provided a DL [...] and this DL matches your IP post location - Awesome - I believe you are who you say you are.
    2) That said DL matches owner of a 08' 911 - yeah didn't say turbo, but I'll let this pass since Yin said license plates match.
    3) You've attended The Time Attack where there was an F12@159+[...], I see that the lone 2008 Porsche TT [...] had a speed trap 6mph faster at the 1/2 mile.
I saw a bunch of other cars like a civic that beat a lot of more expensive cars (that's nothing new) - I did see that cars routinely blow up motors - so I guess there is the excitement of that. - but this I also believe was you.
    4) You have access to 2004 Gallardo - BUT...have not proven you own it, let alone a 458.
    5) That you've parked said 911 next to said Gallardo and to 'a' 458.

You've done almost everything that I asked, and I commend you and give you props - I will admit this was already more than I expected. You've done so much, in fact, and so super close to getting $500, that on a matter of principle, I feel I would owe it to anybody that I maligned wrongly. In fact, I said I *already* believe you. All that's left is for you to take a couple of photos and be $500 richer. (I did lay out my proposal and am happy to keep my word)

Just go to your garage like a couple of days ago and take that same DL/Title of the Gallardo with the name on it (not covered up this time.) Do the same for the 458, and again for the 911T (remember my my proposal needs the three things, DL/Title/VIN and the documents physically on the car) = done. $500 (I am PMing this message to Yin, and I'm ready to Paypal him advance)

    You're like 85% there man.

At this point, my honor and word mean more than a measly $500, in fact, I had posted I withdraw my wager after I had a change of heart, but Yin literally to the minute before posted your photos...but I immediately said I would back up my wager.

One final comment: People did not ask you if you owned these cars because one 'needs' to own a Ferrari/Lambo/Porsche/etc to have an opinion, yes even critical. I myself said one does not even need to own a Ferrari to participate. They were asking because with the comments you see below, they were trying to at least see if you were 'legit' and not some teenager spouting off. I would argue with a 08 911 TT you have proven your not a magazine racer. But, you're right, though, there's the matter of the wager. I'm happy to put up or shut myself.

I'm happy to take this to it's full end, even if I lose my wager.

    **

I know some people here have commented negatively guys like me 'jumped' on the "04G", I'm not sure if those folks are reading the same thread....but can anybody read the following comments by "04G" and NOT have assumed a teenager troll? I can only conclude people didn't read the whole thread and have full context on why people were so hostile.

(This first quote was his 3rd post of his Fchat tenure and 8th post on this thread)
So '04g' if you want an apology, happy to oblige and let bygones be bygones. But I think it would need to go both ways.

Just PM'ed the Moderator Yin, I asked him for his PayPal address, and I will even go the extra step and in good faith not require you to deposit your wager.

Ball in your court and you literally have nothing to lose.

Like I said I rather lose $500 and know I kept my word, then keep $500 and lose my honor.

(To Fchat spectators, at least it will be fun now to see what happens) one of us will lose this virtual 'drag' race soon enough.

    :)

I've removed personal info in the above post regarding 04g's city, state, and name. These are items that the OP took reasonable precautions to obscure, so let's not violate that intention even if you somehow pieced it together.

As far as expediting the exchange of the wager, I am willing to do so at the appropriate time in order to help assist in preserving anonymity; but as you seem to have found his name and your user name is guileless, I don't think I see the point. Still, if it is appropriate, I can do so at the time there are funds to exchange.

No, no need to expand the wager. In fact, I retract it...no need to kick a person (and a kid especially) when there down. The fact you've censored my post is good enough for me. But damn, his parents nice to buy him a 911 T. Even if he just works at XxxxxXxxxxxx Xxx. My parents only bought me a used Mazda 323 with 80K miles (it wasn't even the turbo version!!!) - damn that was like 64 hp if remember right.

I can tell you all how I was able to determine who it was.

    It was relatively easy actually.

So Xxxx Xxxx, it's cool man.

I see you are a Porsche/Lambo fanboi it's all good yo....I did stupid things in high school too. It's a tough time, hormones and all. Plus the pre-frontal cortex is still being developed.

I respect Porsche, in fact, I think they are objectively the best cars in the world. I mean that. I'm sure you have a beautiful 08 911 t; I wish you years of driving pleasure (be safe though)

I respect Lamborghini; I think they are amazing cars. Tell your dad/brother/cousin/etc, great car.

I appreciate the owners of either too and judge them by their ACTIONS over the car they drive always.

I hope you drive in good health and find more joy in your marque then trying to denigrate owners of others.

Let me part with the wise words of John Pogson; he is a very accomplished Six-time Ferrari race car champion, and as it happens a Mondial enthusiast too. He talks about avoiding the trap of denigrating car models/brands just because you own something different.

    ***

To all those that called me out and others for 'jumping' on a 'high school' kid spouting off...feel free to PM me if you want to eat crow. And don't worry Xxxx Xxxx ("04G") I'm a class act, I won't reveal your identity - you have my word.

04G, it's cool man....it's cool. See you on track.

    :)

Guys nothing more to see here.

    LOL
