Thanks for the reply barnfieldman.....not sure if it helped me out or not. The diagram you attached is unclear of what each of those pieces is. Do they list what each number is supposed to be? There was no 1 piece seal in the car upon disassembly....although you never know who had their hands on it in the past. The seals that came off of the quarter windows seemes like seperate pieces but I don't know if they really were or if that was just from them dry rotting.

Anyone else have experience with the rear quarter window seal? Only way I can clarify the seal I'm talking about is by saying it's the seal(s) that run around the outside of the stainless trim that surrounds the quarter window and the front portion of the seal has 2 holes in it where the retaining screws for the window pass from the b-pillar into it.

I can also take pictures tomorrow night if someone needs clarification. I'm hoping to figure this out by mid-week when I get back to working on this project. Thanks again.

Here is a photo I found God knows where online some weeks ago, highly intriguing.

Obviously south or central America. It takes a major eccentric to have the guts to run a Khamsin so far away from Modena and a proper dealer network, love it, it reminds me of the movie Le sauvage with Yves Montand and Catherine Deneuve, very International people stuck in that part of the world:)

Would love to find out more about this one but no clues yet...apart of this, not the most reputable owner...:

    Hi Bob,

No reason to think this was a photoshop, no evidence either.

Actually he had a Shamal too which is now in France: see caption under last photo in this link.

This article, in English, not of the highest caliber, seems to say that the cars that were at his Hacienda all got destroyed....but who knows where the car was when his end came...

    Hello AMLC!

yes I saw that, I guess we need to question Mick Jagger:)

The number plate on the car at Escobar's hacienda looks English but I don't have it in my UK car database.

The Spanish language account seems whimsical at best, it says he went to pick up the group in his finest car which was his K...the writer does not seem to realize how useless the back seats are:)

I wouldn't want any ex Escobar anything.

They were just running a drugumentary about him on the NATGEO channel I think. I can only watch bits and pieces it's so horrific - the stories. One of his chief henchmen who sent 3,000 to their graves was still reveling in the "glory days". Where's the bullet for that SOB's brain?

I watched the special Catching Escobar or whatever it was called. A pure monster who attracted many to his organization and terrorized Columbia and other places.

    It's still happening too ... :(

    End of sidetrack.

So you think it's a real car then. I bet being his mechanic was not easy ...

I trust very few photos anymore ...

Well the other images in that Spanish language article are clearly not photos, but that one with the car by the gate of hs Hacienda is...I just hope the car survived.

Yes horrible person, put a bomb on a jet and killed more than 100 people to get someone who as not even on the plane...but fine cars don't attract just nice people do they...anyway I will find out if any K's went to Colombia, I know three went to Venezuela (of which two are now back in Europe and restored), a couple to the Caribbean so you never know though of course as mentioned it has what looks like a UK plate.

Actually I just looked it is a Colombian plate the small word on it is Medellin the region...

The tongue decal is a definite Rolling Stones reference . But why would that guy even bother with getting plates?

Well I have just asked the "keeper of the papyrus and parchments in the Modena pyramid" so in a day or two we will find out if any K was sold new to Colombia, not sure if the factory took white powder as payment;-)

Oh if he did get one I bet it was second hand so it could have come from just about anywhere in the world. I don't think he was a "big operator" when Khamsins were new?

But maybe the factory sold parts for one in Columbia?

Hey maybe Frank M. knows lol :D Just kidding Frank ...

I did some more investigating this morning...it's possible they have these seals listed for the wrong position on the car. It appears the seals listed in their diagram are the correct ones for securing the front vent windows into the stainless frame in front of the door glass.

    RestoPaul,
the two pieces in the parrts manual 34, and 35 have part numbers PRN84904 and 120 BT 84906 for the rear fixed window. If you believe the pieces you received are for the front vent windows that don't open there are three pieces listed PRN 84563, PRN 85464 and PRN84565 with names, profilato gomma nera per voletti fissi parte anter 700mm, profilato vellutato per gocciolatoio 300mm and profilato gomma nera per voletti fissi parte post. 500mm. Which again according to google translate to profile black rubber for fixed front, velvety profile for draining and profile black rubber for fixed rear. The velvety piece is the one that runs along the bottom of the glass. The seal that you refer to that runs outside the stainless does not appear to be in the parts manual however is clearly seen in photos of the car. It can perhaps be best viewed on the photos of the yellow khamsin recently auctioned on ebay.

So yes I have just sent an email to Bogota...and this artist is probably going to have a good laugh thinking he fooled a silly gringo:) I now think he did but hope there is a kernel of truth in the tale.

I heard back from Fabio at Maserati Classiche, he looked at what cars went to central and south America, I found out about a few more which is nice but none were sold to Colombia and none in that group were silver as the car in the photo seems to be.

More answers in the next episode:)

    Hello all,

I just found out by way of RM's London office that AM120US1046 the ex Doug Magnon museum Khamsin tested by Jay Leno has in fact, contrary to what I expected, been bought at the Monterey auction last month by an American, in Colorado. That is all I know due to confidentiality matters.

Good to see one remaining stateside:)

Here is a photo I took of it with the late Doug Magnon while on a USA visit in April 2013.

Doug would have been happy to know it stayed in the US, even more so in a state with fabulous roads, those who like lucky me attended Maser Miglia 1997 when we were based at Beaver Creek will agree:)

    All the best,

    Marc

    Hi all,

as one of four mounts for differential and rear axle broke last week and the rubber parts of the other three seem to be at their end of life span too I was desperately looking for these but without success so far (I asked Campana and Candini in Italy and MIE).

Does anybody habe an idea where I could get these?

The exact description in the Khamsin spare parts catalogue on page 15 is as follows:

    - Nr. 48: 2 pcs SLN68873 (Anti vibration mount ref. RIV MDO54/50 hyperbloc / Supporto antivibratore Tp. RIV MDO54/50 hyperbloc) – has 4 screw holes

    - Nr. 75: 2 pcs SLN67229 (Anti vibration mount ref. RIV / Supporto antivibratore Tp. RIV) – has 2 screw holes

    Pics will follow.

    Thanks!

    Herbert

    Hi Herbert,

Ask Schiemenz in Bad Godesberg too and I am sure you have looked here in my tech reference page for equivalent parts?

Lots of cleaning, waxing and a bit of rechroming paid off. The Khamsin won Best in Class in the 60s/70s italian supercars and GTs at Antwerp Concours. To my surprise if i'm honest 'cause my car is an older restoration. The Mangusta, Pantera, 512bb, 250GTE, bora, espada and appia zagato and vignale spyder were all in near or absolute perfect state. I guess it shows that the Khamsin is just a spectacular sight.
