I need tires for my 30QV... I've been running "upsized width" tires for years (225/50 front, 245/45 rear) and really like them on my factory 16 wheels, though I also have the rears bumped out 5/8" with wheel spacers.

The options for a single tire STREET model in those sizes are limited, though still available (such as Toyo Proxes T1R), but I decided to go ahead and get 17" wheels. There are MANY more options available in 17" that produce the essentially same tire overall diameter and width (225/45-17 and 245/40-17) as my current "upsized width" 16s.

I don't particularly want 3-piece wheels, so I'm going with the HRE 505M (HRE's Vintage Series). Even through they're not 3-piece, they still get custom built (machined) to my diameter, offset and other specs. I am getting 17x8 front, 17x9 rear. Offset on the front will be made so that 1/2" of the additional width goes to the inside of the wheel, and 1/2" goes to the outside, which makes the tires be identical in placement to what I have now... so no fitment issues. For the rears, 5/8" of the new additional width will go to the outside, and 3/8" will go to the inside, matching what I have with my 5/8" spacers on my 16s. The wheels will be made to properly clear the wheel bearings spindles, use factory wheel bolts, and use my yellow-black Ferrari prancing horse center caps. They'll ship to me with tires or my choice mounted and balanced.

It's a 6-8 week wait but I'm excited! The value of the 308s is finally up to where I feel like it's justified to put this kind of money into the wheels.

I am looking forward to seeing what your new wheels look like on the car Mike. Please post some pictures when you've put them on.

I have a NOS set of Comps in the box but I need barrels. Always looking for alternatives since I could get so much cash for the Comps.

I haven't fully decided on the color, though. I could use some input! It'll either be the satin silver for a just slightly more modern look, or the gloss silver like the factory wheels. You can see the color "swatches" here:
Vintage Series - 505M | HRE Performance Wheels

Their gallery is worth looking at too... the Ferrari FF has a satin silver with polished centers:

Here are closeups of that same Satin Silver

And here's GLOSS Silver on the wheel centers on 3-piece wheels on a Dino:

HRE engineers suggested that I go with 235/45-17 front and 255/40-17 rear on the 8" and 9" wheels instead of the 225/45-17 and 245/40-17 as originally planned. That is only about 1/2 inch overall additional tread area width per tire (1/4" to the inside of the rim and 1/4" to the outside of the rim) compared to what I have on now (225/50-16 front and 245/45/-16 rear) so it should be fine as far as having no interference issues or extending past the fender lips. The overall diameter is just barely larger than factory (less than a half inch) so I don't think it will be noticeable, but I have adjustable height shocks anyway if it aesthetically needs tweaking. I'm including of how my car looks now with the current "upsized width" tires and lowered suspension.

Here's a snapshot of the tire size calculations from my spreadsheet. In case any of you would find it useful, here's also the actual spreadsheet too so you can plug in your own numbers for future consideration.

Change of plans -- the front wheels will be 7.5" wide instead of 8". The 7.5" width matches what Ferrari used for fronts on the cars following the 308/328 series, including the 348, 355, 360 and 430.

That brings me to this tire size combination (purple in the table) with the same tire width on the fronts as I'm using now (blue in the table), which I'm more comfortable with anyway for the fronts, since I'm really just almost at max to the fender lip now.

New rear wheels will be 9" width as originally planned.

Do you think 255 in the rear rather than 245 might make understeer worse? I think I'd go 225/245 to try to balance the front/rear. A stock 308 doesn't have enough power to be difficult to control the rear end.

It took a little longer than expected, but my custom HRE 505M 17" wheels (see post #28 in this thread) for my 308QV are finally on their way here via UPS. I'll post photos when they get here and get put on the car!

Satin Silver. They would have matched the original Ferrari silver with gloss if I'd wanted them that way, but I think the satin will give it a nice look, just slightly updated while still factory-ish at first glance, especially with the standard Ferrari yellow prancing horse center caps.

I'll get a better, more "posed" photo in better lighting, but here they are after I just put them on this morning!

At first glance, they look to me kind of 328-ish, but in 17"... and of course though it doesn't show in the photo, they're WIDER too.

I was really hoping better results, but kinda strike me as a little bit too "skeletal" look for some reasons to be frank. Perhaps pictures with better lighting will change that strange feeling.
