As you all know I dislike MS.

But: He is the GOAT. No question about that.

Yes he gets mixed reviews, but I think they are deserved because as great as he was, he also made a bunch of bad moves. What I never quite understood was, why? He was so head and shoulders above the rest, he didn't need to try to drive his own brother into the wall at Nuerburgring, or his teammate into the wall in Monaco or his competitor into the wall in Hungary. He could have easily done all his achievements without that stuff. Or IMHO the absolute worst: The parking at Rascasse to prevent Alonso from snatching pole. So low and then to lie about it.

He did never need any of that stuff. But that's now water under the bridge. I just wish the ardent MS fans would be a tad more objective in their views.

I love Vettel, Alonso and Max and by gholly aren't they all three flawed? Hell yes. So I would never put them onto a pedastal saying they never did anything wrong.

    (stepping off my soapbox now)

PS: And if nothing else, MS gave us 20 years of great F1 motorsport. Love him or hate him, he certainly got us all talking and isn't that the whole point?

In other Schuey news, there are unconfirmed reports that he is now able to take steps?!

I won't post links because I believe much of this is click bait, however there are a few reports out there referring to this. Positive news, even if unconfirmed. Let's hope it's at least a little accurate.

It's an old rumor from 2015, which had already been strongly denied by Sabine kehm

Indeed serious and the combative spirit..

Multi-21 was a great example.. Sometimes you need to bend the rules when you are a fighter and true champion - to go that extra hurdle to make it.

On topic, I sure hope MS makes the best recovery possible.

The Schumacher estate are now having to release details of his condition in the course of suing a magazine.

I can't help thinking that they have handled the PR situation really badly.

Lawyer reveals Michael Schumacher cannot walk as court case over false claim begins ? MotorSportsTalk

His lawyer not only revealed that Michael can't walk, he also said Michael can't even move.

“Unfortunately, we are forced by a recent press report to clarify that the assertion that Michael could move again is not true,” Kehm said.

I don't understand the secrecy, the family would get much less attention if they just came out and said he is a vegetable. If being left alone is really what they want, just have a press conference with a doctor explaining his condition to all the millions of fans that care. I honestly think his family loves the attention and mystery.

If you were a family member and saw an article saying Michael could walk, or dance for that matter, wouldn't you just think to yourself, "God, I wish that were true" and move on with your life. The whole court case for 80,000 Euros seems petty and weird.

Sad and odd. The whole ordeal is sad and odd.

What nonsense. As long as you feed people, they'll demand more. They are doing the only sensible thing, they shut up.

In that context I don't quite understand why go through this court process and not just leave to publish whatever they want.

Suing a magazine for less money than they need a month for electricity in that massive home and having details come out that way is sensible?

It's not that they need the money, but to stop other publications of writing nonsensical stories. They won't risk a big fine for doing so.

I don't think so, but I already said that in my post you are quoting.

I don't know what their motivation for doing that is.

If they did that, then essentially that makes MS dead. Then the MS merchandising empires begins to fade away.

Yes, I'm a cynic. Also a former CFO and a realist. Lots of people are still employed based on MS's name.

I sincerely, highly doubt, that their motivation for not telling the world what exactly is going on is to keep selling hats.

If anything, saying he is dead would actually sell more hats/flags and whatever. Look at all the celebrities that died to soon. Michael Jackson for example has made more money since he's dead than he ever did when alive. Whitney Houston album sales went through the roof when she OD'd. Prince, Bowie...

My opinion for why they don't say anything is simple: They've always been a private family. Giving us updates will NOT keep the journo's away, in fact I believe they would be stationed in front of their house again like they did in the first months after his accident. The kids will continue to be asked questions. People would still ***** that they aren't given enough info. They want pictures, video...I don't think many people have an idea of what a person that's been bedridden for nearly 2 years looks like, but they'll be shocked. We'll have 2 parties making constant ''expert'' statements. 1 saying he'll be dead soon, ''put him down'' and the other more optimistic ones will continue to claim he's walking.

It's taken a while, but there aren't constant journo's in front of their house. They got the message: They're not giving any. And anyone that makes up a bull**** statement, simply to sell more of their newspaper because they haven't got anything to talk about, will be hit with a lawsuit and made to pay. And most can't afford a big fine.

Sounds like Bunte set this up to get an admission on record of MS current state...

"Demand more"? What more can be expected after saying that he can't move, especially if they firmly state (as the lawyer did) that they will not go any further.

The family is fully within its rights to avoid any comment on his condition but the fact remains that keeping quiet invites speculation.

I suspect they're trying to protect Michael's image and perhaps that is the best course of action for them. But saying nothing only increases the public's hunger for information and creates a market for rumor mongering.

I would not be surprised to see them attempt such a thing. Of course its my own speculation but the result is exactly what the public has been curious about - How is MS doing...

Or the family decided it was time to simply provide a touch of truth about the condition to stop further false reports.
