    Does anyone know where I can buy a cam variator solenoid tool it's an av3058 Ferrari tool.. The dealer in Australia doesn't have one and I need mine replaced...

    It's a 33.5mm socket that is very tall. You *could* buy it or purchase a tall 34mm socket and mill off 0.25mm from the inside *or* buy a 34 mm socket and put a .25mm thick piece of sheet metal around the variator to take it out. It will be a tall socket and you'll have to dremel/cut a hole in the top of the socket to accommodate the plug.

    The problem is the tight clearances around the solenoid.

    If it is 33.5 mm, can you find a 34 mm impact socket as they are a 6 point( ie 6 flats) so the extra 0.5 mm is not going to matter. From what it states in the other post it is very tall so you need to work out where the hexagon is on the solenoid and do you need the flats for just the end or all the height.
    I have cut sockets in half before and rewelded a pipe section in the middle , so you have the original drive and socket on the ends. All depends on the side clearence of the space where the solenoid is
