The SIL made pot stickers and left me a bunch. So I made those in the steamer pot deal. Then made stir fry in the wok as main dish. Canadian thanksgiving is coming up fast. Second Monday of October. Ordering a bone in prime rib this week.
I love smoking wings. I usually throw them on when smoking other, larger meats, so I have a nice snack a few hours in. I don't sauce prior to smoking, but season them up good with Lawry's seasoning salt. After 2-3 hours (depending on temp), I pull them, sauce them with buffalo wing style hot sauce, and return to the smoke until the sauce is "adhered" to the wings. As you note, the sauce wonderfully soaks up the smoke. Texture is different than fried, but overall, I think the product is better. Mark
No problem, and I think I am going to give your recipe a shot some time soon. Those wings look incredible. Another snack-type food I love doing in the smoker is nachos. Lawyer chips with whatever toppings you like on a tray or some sort platter (cheese is a must) and smoke just long enough until the cheese is melting and it's completely heated through. It doesn't take long. If you have previously smoked meat (such as pulled pork or a few ribs), chop it up and throw it on the nachos as well for a little extra goodness. The smoked cheese and meat (whatever you use) is an awesome. It's also easy to make a really large portion so it's good for games days/parties/etc. Mark
California rolls? Chicken leg quarters on the Big Green Egg. With enough left over for lunch today. Sprinkled a little pepper, chili powder, paprika, onion and garlic powder. Then cooked about 300 or so, indirect over the BGE plate setter. Served with homemade guacamole, baked beans (from a can), and a little homemade apple chipotle salsa...T
it was Chicken teriyako and beef with spicy mayo. Not bad but certainly not great. today is a light day of salads and safeway food!
Been some sort of crap cold going around here. I got it yesterday and by the time I went home all I really wanted to do was crawl into bed and sleep it off. But I also wanted some hot soup. I decided to do beef instead of chicken so grabbed some hamburger, veggies, noodles, even a couple small fingerling potatoes I had left over on the counter. Just sort of threw it all together with some box beef broth and LOTS of peppers. It still wasn't hot enough though so I threw in some horseradish and sambal. That did the trick. May not be the best tasting thing I've ever concocted but it sure hit the spot. Getting ready to heat up a bowl of it in a few minutes.
Doesn't sound too bad! Try a hot toddy, they always help me sleep it off and sweat it out. Hope you get to feeling better!
Funny you should mention that, I did grab mixins for Hot Toddy too. Had one while the soup was cooking.
Yes, drive to Richmond's Steveston area. Very nice fishing village. https://www.yelp.com/biz/shintaro-sushi-richmond https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g181716-d3236609-Reviews-Mega_Sushi-Richmond_British_Columbia.html https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g181716-d811585-Reviews-Ichiro_Japanese_Restaurant-Richmond_British_Columbia.html There is a few more in the area, the above are the best. If in Surrey with the SIL we cross the bridge to Burnaby. Yan's Garden Restaurant ?????? | Lougheed Hwy, Burnaby, B.C. It can be busy. I liked it because if too busy there was a small Japanese restaurant owned by a Korean family next door. It was ok, decent when hungry and a good easy fall back if Yan's was busy. The family turned it into a Korean restaurant. Still good, but they don't have BBQ. https://www.yelp.com/biz/hanok-korean-restaurant-burnaby But if you stay around Surrey. This is ok for Chinese. https://www.zomato.com/vancouver/lee-yuen-seafood-restaurant-guildford-surrey (only when the SIL is with me) My go too in Surrey, is a hole in the wall more nostalgic over good food. It was half way to my grand parents house from mine growing up. So we'd meet my grand parents there for lunch or dinner. My aunt and uncles would often come. So we'd have up to 20 people. It was more an inexpensive way to meet a few times per month for lunch or dinner. Been going to the place since 1980. So if I'm with my brother and near Surrey, we usually stop for a nostalgic bite. 😀 I did two light cheese, one heavy cheese. That was heavy cheese. Forgot to post this last night, prime cap steak! Served with mashed potatoes and candied carrots. T
Looks delish! The last couple times I've been to Costco I've tried to talk the wife into some more ribeye cap, but she's not too fond of the richness. I might have to buy some cap for myself and a regular steak for her.
Do it. Our Costco has been selling cap and the eye of the rib eye separately. Do, maybe that's an option. Or, just get her a filet mignon. Win-win. 😀 T
Last night I made salmon cakes. And didn't make the same mistakes I did my first go around. They weren't bad but forgot the sauce and had to use a chipotle mayo that was in the fridge. The first ones that went in were a bit too dark also as I had the fire too high. Kinda like making pancakes, the first one is always a bit retarded... Cheap Chateauneuf du Pape was decent, a bit too much alcohol. I'm not sure the pair is supposed to work for foodies but the more and more wine I drink, the less thought I give to suggested pairings. I enjoyed it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
^Those look mighty good for home crafted. We had the same, but bought from Costco. Love C du Pape wine!! T
