It's up on BaT if anyone wants to take a gander.
As someone curious and interested in this car, what would be the estimate on cost to import to USA? Also, here is the link for the BaT ad. GLWS! 7K-Mile 1995 Ferrari 456GT 6-Speed | Bring a Trailer
I am hesitant to answer because I don't want to hurt the sellers "vibe" on his for sale thread. I don't want it to become about "me" but at the same time I dont want someone to go into this blindly either. If the original poster wants me to delete this, I am happy to or I give my consent to the moderators to delete this at the OPs request. I can not give you an accurate estimate as I do not have any experience trying to get this particular year and model federalized. However, I can tell you that it is going to be a 5 digit sum vs a 4 digit sum. I don't know how many pre-owned parts are available to make this car get through the system and I am unfamiliar with the cost but if an RCI quoted it at 20k I would not be shocked. In my experience they pretty much don't do anything for less than 20k LOL. Maybe that is just my luck.
Possibly even sooner as the 25 year rule to production date and not to model year... but 4 years or 3 years and 10 months doesn't really help anyone in this situation
Appreciate the insight and tact. I think you may well be right; however the biggest cost would be the restraints. I'm looking at a way around the requirement to install airbags, possibly going with active belts instead. We shall see. In the meantime, it didn't sell on BaT at just under 65k. Anyone willing to make me an offer above 76k will likely get it.
If that $76k included the cost of import, I'd strongly consider it.... I hope for your sake you're able to sell it to a fellow Canuck who can enjoy it without the import headache. GLWS!
30-40% back That seems to be where the money falls on BaT auction site for cars that have been presented here first (initial asking price). I am not commenting good or bad, simply an observation. GLWS Jack
