The powers to be keep shoving autonomous driving down our throats so what if this was the future of F1, does this interest you at all?

-the manufacturer and its technology is the star of this F1

-cornering and straight line speeds dramatically increase with tire technology think 300 mph cars, since there are no drivers, the cars are no longer restricted by the human g-load limits

-advanced crash avoidance technology in F1, the stuff we have in production cars now will be taken to a whole new level at these speeds, no drivers means less crashes

-humans still used for pit stops

-manufacture championship given out just like today

-fuel mileage championship given out as well, fastest car that expends the least amount of fuel

Would I go see this type of racing at these speeds, I have to admit as much as I love the human element and controversies that come with it in F1, the sure spectacle of cars at 300-325 mph, looking like grown-up slot cars essentially would draw me to buy a ticket.

Why would they still have humans for pitstops?

If you want to watch electric remote control cars you can do that now.

Have you been to a Formula E race?

    They eat humans?

In Formula E they replace the whole car.

Forgot to mention next year they will be introducing Robo racing @ Formula E events.

Can't think of anything more boring myself, well, I suppose formula e is almost as boring. If you want to watch racing like that, they could just programme it on a game console, so why bother? The thought of the enviro-nutters awarding trophies for using less fuel actually makes my blood boil.

Lol. This sounds like everything Formula 1 shouldn't be. I wouldn't go see it if it was free! Perhaps if it happened right outside my house I'd take a peek but I wouldn't drive 5 minutes for it, let alone pay to get in. Wouldn't watch it on TV either, or have it on in the background. No way.

I'd much rather watch world best sim racers race each other digitally.

    Interesting.

I'll go for it; not as a replacement for motor racing, but out of curiosity to see how far technology can go.

No doubt, many of the findings could find their way in F1 as drivers' aid.

Technology is a genie that you cannot put back in the bottle ...

It is from "The right stuff": the Mercury astronauts explain to the German scientists why it is important to have a human on board, even if the capsule could fly on its own

what would be interesting is having the cars remote controlled by human drivers ... watch the carnage... 300MPH cars that can corner like slot cars... would be interesting. perhaps have them painted in national colors etc... with select sponsors...

For me the scary stuff about this idea is that we all know that machines probably would drive a lot better than humans. This debate exceeds the scope of motor racing and should go in Politics and Religion: the big issue is that as machines get better and better, sooner or later humans will cease to be the dominant species of the planet.

Like it or not, as someone said above, you can't put this genie back in the bottle.

I'd be interested to see it as a completely stand alone formula. As a replacement for F1? not a chance...
