    There is an interesting article on the restoration Simon Kidston's early Countach in the latest issue of Classic Cars Magazine. Apparently it's the most expensive Countach to sell in auction ($1.7 hammer price). I'm not a huge Countach fan like you guys but the early ones are really special and this one looks spectacular. A fun read.

    I read your piece also, and its clear that its written from an enthusiast's perspective.

    Bravo!

    A minor correction if I may - 1120202 is not in the color of Team Wolf Racing, its simply Blu Bugatti.

    The only Countach which Wolf owned that was in his F1 racing team colors was 1121002 below, finished in his signature Wolf Racing dark blue (non-metallic) with gold trim.

    On a personal note, this is my favorite Wolf Countach, by far. Not only is it impeccably-liveried, and the actual LP400S S1 Prototype, but it carries the immortal true Wolf Racing dark blue & gold colors, and has a very special engine. It also has Lockheed brakes and a fully adjustable suspension and rear wing.

    FWIW, the only other car he had specially built in this color was his monstrous Porsche 935 Kremer.

    The earlier Wolf Countachs 1120148 and 1120202 are both important cars, but to me they have a kit-car vibe with their black spats and black LP400 front bumpers, all of which do not look fully developed for the "S".

    1121002 was unquestionably the ultimate Wolf car, as he told me himself when we spoke in person in 2003.

    For me it is the ultimate Wolf Countach, but the ultimate Countach overall is another.

    Yes, I am biased as most people are, so it would have to be an example of the most powerful Countach production variant, preferably one built for the CEO of Automobili Lamborghini SpA.

    I would say the ultimate among all special Countach is the one that Ferruccio owned personnally, so there is only one : #112.1164

    That is a very special Countach!

    It ticks some of the right boxes, the ownership one being hard to beat.

    Thanks Joe, happy to hear! I just mentioned 1121002 and its color in my article when listing the Wolf specials - 1120202 is mentioned as Bugatti blue ;)

    That said, I would absolutely love to see 1121002! Might have to book a ticket to Japan...

    I'd say, only because of the ownership.
    Since Ferrucio was a very cost saving person he bought that LP400s used from Rome, that time it was red, featured in the famous 60 minutes episode.
    Non original color, unknown number of owners, it's the last owner only which makes it special.

    Victor do you know how many of the RHD LP400 cars were upgraded to LP400s spec and also how many still exist? Would appreciate your input. stephen

    All Countachs are very special, but when considering the Ultimate Countach, it has to tick all the boxes.

    I'm SORRY to contradict you, but I can't leave this kind of affirmation without reacting.

    In the 60 minutes at the 0.40 min Ferruccio is driving his white Countach LP 400 S2 (not a red one) and at 1.25 min Valentino is driving a red Countach QV.


    Apparently you don't know about the origin of the car, and it is annoying that you speak about it like this.



    Have you spoken to Patrizia Lamborghini ?

    Have you spoken to Teresa ?

    Have you spoken to Ubaldo Sgarzi ?

    Have you even spoken to the current owner since it doesn't belong to the family since ?

    Have you at least inquire at the factory with old employees about it ?

    Did you see yourself the individual production file of this car ?


    Hummm ?


    So, you declare to the Public irrelevant informations... or please teach us there was a guy in Roma who bought it (name, testimony, invoice or any kind of document), who registered it, and it was red (after the delivery) with a good pic demonstrating it was #112.1164...


    Oh yes, you will mentionned us that in the Delivery Countach list, it is matching the order from SEA and was red/black, com'on... too easy for the ULTIMATE Countach !

    Did you know the list wasn't corrected after the speudo cancellation of the Customer from Roma... or much better, it was a trick to hide that Ferruccio ordered & specified a Countach for himself with discretion ?!?

    #112.1164 had only one owner : Ferruccio, that's the only person to have registered in Italy, the registration office confirmed it, and others clues surround the mystery around this Countach, but all these informations belong to the current owner.

    The 2nd ever Lamborghini car registered on Ferruccio's name is his Miura SV #5028 belonging now to Ferruccio's Junior, his Grandson, and sitting at Funo Museum.

    BTW, #112.1164 title is still on Ferruccio's name, and he was not the last owner to have it registered... he is the only one !



    I can understand your proud to have owned for a long time Patrick Mimran's personnal Countach QV, but he was one of the following owners of the brand & factory.

    Mimran saved the factory with his brother, thanks God, but he is a follower owner... his car wasn't a Mimran Countach but a Lamborghini Countach...
    so his QV is at the same level like any Countach owned by Leimer or Hahne which are in the same league, one step below...

    The only Countach on top of the pyramid is the only one having belonged to the Creator of the brand... to the guy who gave his family name for posperity !

    That's my point of view.
