ginge constantly moving the goal posts when he's caught out. Classic ginge! Can you point us to their current financials? Last I saw in July 2016, they had only given 2015 numbers and were profitable. https://www.ft.com/content/cb3e7470-4f3e-11e6-88c5-db83e98a590a Classic ginge!
No goal posts are being moved but some fanboys are being schooled. When Ferrari are stuck with a single engine to use, like some, because of financial restrictions perhaps then comparisons can be made. Thankfully they are not limited to one tub and engine. Chirp.
Hey ginge, what's 4/2? What's 2/1? Hey, what do you know, Ferrari has 1 engine per every 2 models they sell, just like McLaren! But hey, even better yet, Ferrari has the same engine in 3 current models whereas McLaren only has it in 2. Say it ain't so, ginge!

Mclaren offers a single engine. Ferrari offers more than a single engine. Attempt to spin that as much as you wish but it will only serve to make you look more foolish.
If I may say so, what I find foolish in this thread is your insistence in slagging off McLaren as if it was an insignificant car maker with no merit. At least, you should recognise that for a car maker that really started production on any scale only 5 years ago, it's doing pretty well. For a brand half a decade old, McLaren is now among the great like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and else. McLaren's production is about 1/3 of what Ferrari churns out. I find that very impressive myself. It's not really a back street operation, is it? Also, the McLaren aren't really cars to laugh at either. They may look the same to some, because they share some DNA, but that would be true of many car makers.
For those that don't know, the McLaren 570S took 2016 Motortrends best Driver's Car of the year away from some pretty tough contenders, and while its certainly not the be-all-end-all, it does show that McLaren do produce a pretty damn good product. Even Ferrari were afraid to show up because they knew they might not win. The 570s is a 2nd gen product as will be the P14. 2016 Motor Trend Best Driver's Car - Motor Trend
2 enines, a v8 and a v12, differences in each one are a function of tuning. by that same measure Maclren makes one engine.
IMV it's mainly cause of their over-aggressive marketing strategy. Never missing the opportunity of going for Ferrari's jugulars and always declaring their cars as the bests, fastests, most advanced and constantly falling short. If they and their fanboys were a little more humble it sure would help but that's not Ron Dennis' style I guess so live by the swoosh...
Igor, man up dude, I thought you were one of us Ferraristas. Stop whining and puking out wimpy statements like this one. How in the world do you expect Ferrari to bounce back from constantly losing every comparison test to Mclaren lately if Maranello doesn't have Wocking's lofty heights to shoot for? We have to convince Ferrari to learn the art of self-defence. This new brand challenge makes them look like they're lying on their back and offering their jugular to the new alpha male and it's shameful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
McLaren road cars have carbon fibre monocoques. A poster was complaining that they use plastic parts on their engines; I was pointing out that the whole body shell of their cars are made out of plastic. Yes carbon fibre is made with plastic resin. So if you don't like plastic engine parts then I suggest McLarens are not for you as its all plastic! Pete
Having said that, carbon fibre is considered a noble material on a vehicle, where mere "plastic" isn't. Carbon fibre is expensive, difficult to handle and requires some expertise. Plastic elements are often injected, and relatively cheap to produce.
That is not correct Pete, wrong point out. The 12c and the 650s and 675lt have aluminum front fenders and hoods and the 570s and 570gt have all aluminum body panels.
Agree it is the best car they make imho. It's good because it will keep Ferrari and others on their A-game.
