Hi Marc I thought you would have seen post 6006 and the pictures posted in that chat. The car going to New Zealand is your mystery car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Roger, Thanks but I could not access that forum or at least see the photos in the link (and still cannot) due to not being a member. A friend just sent me these additional shots of 070 he found. Glad these wheels will come off the car, an aberration and of course the bumpers should not be in body color. This is now the second Khamsin in New Zealand, the other Kiwi is a late right hand drive, 423. Hejsan Fredric! I was curious about how the event went and which K's were present tack sa mycket Four is not bad!!! Last photo shows your car and 058 owned since 2014 by a Dutch enthusiast. Any photos of the other 2? Burgundy with two tone interior sounds like 352 one of the very best in the world, from Zurich, and there is a very nice silver one from Zurich as well, 338, maybe these were the ones? If anybody else was there thanks in advance for sharing any info. Best regards, Marc
Domo arigato Roger san You have a talent for ferreting out info in the land of the rising sun: do you speak Japanese? I know about 4 words from my two visits in the early 1990's Best regards, Marc san
Hi Marc Another K for you records Aussie delivered Auto AM120 317 coming up for Auction in November. I am going to go and have a look at the car before the Auction to get a good Idea of whats its like. The auction team think is worth $100.00 AUD!! https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2016-shannons-sydney-spring-classic-auction/B0JAOBB8712W611B/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Graeme, That looks interesting, a Khamsin with mud-flaps. Can't remember having seen that before. Best keep your hands in your pockets if you're going to the auction! Best, Jack.
Hi Graeme, thanks you had mentioned this one to me years ago, it was also in a Bonhams Goodman Australian auction in May 2004, did not sell then. Of course that was before interest in them even began. Let's see what this one does despite the auto box and incorrect wheels. The one in South Africa recently, 012, did surprisingly well but may have attracted interests as being a very very early car but this was a typical market where there are very few, you never know, such as the fantastic extremely low mileage gold car that was in a Hong Kong auction before summer...and did not sell, which really was someone's great loss (I am not involved in its sale). Best regards, Marc
Hi Fredric, Tack Yes that is 352, rosso rubino is the color according to my files, I saw it only once at the first K meet I organized with 8 cars August 2010 near Zurich with a friend, a spectacular car and the only one of all delivered new with factory luggage Best regards, Marc Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nope I don't speak japanese, but it helps to write it... and for the rest bing is very helpful Best regards Roger san
RM Auction in Milano in November: c. 1975 Maserati Khamsin | Duemila Ruote 2016 | RM Sotheby's The chassis number is shown in one of the photos, AM120.096 or AM120.006?
Hi Marc, I thought 096 was a nice dark blue car in Austria: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/138296475-post747.html Did it get new paint and new interior since then?
I was told the fourth K at the International meet was 306 owned by Caroline from Germany who famously said -as quoted in my book- "my Khamsin is female because she is *****y." I agree, all K's are b...... Just like some fine wines have that special something MS
Hmm yes either that or one of them is a counterfeit or a hologram Am away from my computer will look into it and send questions tomorrow morning. Good night, M
Hello AMLC, all, Well the verdict has fallen, 096 is still blue residing in Austria, I have heard back from the nephew of the owner and so it begs the question which one the RM car actually is. 006 it is not because as mentioned 006 was renumbered 024 in period when the factory finished using it for testing, media use (including the famous Emerson Fittipaldi test drive) and then it sold to Germany as a "new(!)" car. It sat for years in storage, repainted silver from light green (with its original beige interior, different head rests from the auction car with its black interior) not that far from the Nurburgring, before a friend bought it to bring it back to it former glory. I helped him sell his other Khamsin a couple of years ago so he could concentrate on restoring 024 to its original light green and very attractive hue. I hope to see it at our KHAMSIN 45 event June 22-25 2017 So I will ask RM for clarifications about which car this Milan auction K actually is. Best regards, Marc
Hi AMLC, This is now in process though it may take a few days or even weeks as the car is not with RM yet (the auction is almost two months away November 25-27) but they will control the car in due course and consult Maserati Classiche if in doubt. So news in the next episode Best regards, Marc
Interesting, why would someone give a Khamsin a fake chassis number? And which one is it really? On the photo of the engine compartment I don't see any identification plates.
Looking at the photo of the chassis number stamped on the chassis, it looks as though someone has tried to make out the chassis number, but through their efforts may have got it wrong !! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello AMLC, Henry, Not a fake like a fake Picasso but perhaps a car of dubious origin. I got a call an hour ago from an Italian contact who said that whole auction comprises the cars of one person (!) seized by the Italian state...so one way or another he was a naughty, naughty boy...with others like him working for him...we will know more in a few days or a couple of weeks. Best regards, Marc
More info on that auction, surprise, surprise, the cars of the naughty boy, Umberto Compiano, more of a modern day Schlumpf compulsive obsessive glutton buyer than the murderous mafioso I expected, include some with restamped chassis or engine numbers...we will find out about this K's details soon enough. To discuss any other cars please do so in that thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-ferrari-market/533743-some-interesting-cars-coming-up-rm-sothebys-duemila-ruote-auction-milan.html MS
Hi All, Have you seen this Khamsin on ebay? 1979 MASERATI KHAMSIN 4.9 COUPE PETROL | eBay I went to see it today as it was not too far away and was a nice day for a drive. I have in my records that this car sold for £76,840 at Coys Ascot in 26 April 2014. It looks like it has had a new rear subframe a few years ago and the respray is not all that good Does anyone know who is thinking of buying it????
