JLA12307, the HIGHEST mileage Countach of all time? Checking back, the exact opposite of this car is a car with just 95 miles, JLA12305, the very next chassis number! It is also Bianco/Nero, and is the lowest-mileage Countach I'm aware of. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Front Carello turn-signal lenses which I have seen eliminated on at least 4 different Countachs. I wonder why. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for clarifying! The white badges on Blu Acapulco is a great look! The 500S I saw had lived a rather hard life, by the looks of it.
As the years go by, the mixing up of dates increases! Apologies. Meanwhile, AFAIK, the white badges were introduced as a standard production option for the Quattrovalvole, used on medium-to-dark colored cars. Seen here on JLA12292. Thanks for confirming, I thought so. I still can't get over the mileage, and I guess it underscores what we have been saying about how robust & reliable these Downdraft engines are.
Hi to correct you Joe, the red is mine, HLA12157 ;-) Cracking shot. Dan is drip feeding us and keeping us on edge. Mind you, he does have a day job too.
Yes, I now realize we are talking about yours and JB's GLA12942! In this image, the latter car does look black that's why I thought it was Countach88.5s car.
Speaking of Countach88.5, here is a great image he posted in the other thread of him hard at work in his Downdraft. Image Unavailable, Please Login
White badging for the Downdraft on a Nero Tenebre example. This image is from @ 1988, and the car is a 1987 MY example. Appears to be either a Monaco or Belgium plate with the numbers obscured for some strange reason. Image Unavailable, Please Login
January 2011 edition of Octane is a great read featuring Downdraft HLA12165. A couple of FChatters have commented on it in the past here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/140869535-post46.html & here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/140866904-post11.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
I should have a set of detailed images of the car's current status by tomorrow, and, hopefully some video of it running! I'm told it is running very well, and attention-to-detail has been focused on all the minor ancillary components, adjustments and making sure the electrics are fully-functional. The end of the restoration and post-restoration fettling involves a million things , so I'm just grateful the guys have the patience the do. More soon.
Raymond, these images are for you Not only did we rescue the foglight, it works! ATM that's what we are focused on, getting all the electrical & mechanical details properly operational. I have dozens of images from today, plus some video, I'll go through them all and post some tomorrow. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's a video of startup - turn up the volume, there is some sound interference. Excuse the initial exhaust belch and the low idle, we still have to fully tune the carbs and set the timing, but we are getting there. This gives a general idea of how it sounds, but its way better in person! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSUxD9KvrXg&feature=em-upload_owner[/ame]
