The Porsche famous 911 head studs come with factory coated thread compound. You screw the studs to the specified height above the deck and let the compound glue itself in.

For everything else, I just use judgment for when it is tight enough.

Let me know how the new set of studs puller work for you before I will get a set.

Too bad the Snap On guys don't make those 11mm size. That is the Ferrari head studs size. Does anybody know of the 7/16 is the exact fit?

Will do - they are to arrive on Friday.

No English and metric threads will be the same. #10-32 is very close to M5, but it's not the same.

    7/16 is 11mm.
    Just like 19mm is 3/4

The major, minor and pitch diamters are different. So is the thread pitch.

Mitch, the Hydramec guys will make the 11mm collets on demand. They made two for me last year for the princely sum of $19 each :)...... Give them a ring; their price for the whole set is much more attractive than Snap-On.

    Mitch, also, the 11mm stud on a 355 is M11 x 1.0

    1.0mm = .0393"

    7/16-14 is a pitch of .0714"

    7/16-20 is a pitch of .05"

So, aside from other details, the pitch is not the same.

John - I wish you had posted before I ordered the other set....

Just called them - the metric set is $272.26 - the same exact set thru Snap on is $570.00...

If the set I ordered turns out to be poor, I will order this instead.

Thanks for posting the info, John :)

I believe she said her name was Debbie. She asked my location first (they are south of me by 1.5 hours). They might have territory restrictions. If so, I can buy the set for you if you like Mitch but let's see the quality of the one I ordered first.

Yeah it does, I'll be ordering a set for the other shop now. Thanks for the follow up. My current set is Snap-on and I wasn't keen on dropping $500+ for another set.

No. I bought a used Snap on 11mm. I'll see tomorrow if it fits in the other housing.

Mitch, so I tried the Snap on M11 x 1.0 in the Baum Housing - it fits fine. Looks like the Baum stuff is the same (copy?). The quality looks equal for both too.

I don't know. When I spoke to them, they stated they make most of their tools but this was is an import.

    Appreciate your clarification.
So if the display/shipping box, organizer case, paperwork or the tools themselves don't offer clue to country of origin and the company "producing" them is not volunteering such detail either, hmm..., I guess one can draw their own conclusion.

It could be on the box, if I remember I will have a look tomorrow. But, this was not my concern. I was looking for a quality made set at a reasonable price point and this fit the bill.

I've been buying a lot of Snap On tools over the last couple years and I really like them and see the value but sometimes you need to not break the bank.

Baum tools are very good, another is sir tools, pricey but excellent quality. Would not be surprised if that set is the same one snap on sells, snap on is not the same as it was 40yrs ago. I was fortunate to inherit my dad's collection when he passed away, it's mostly 60's thru 70's vintage.

Getting hard to find good quality tools without going swap meet our eBay. A lot are getting mass produced with crappy metallurgy.

It's not the same set. The Snap On are made by the company John posted 1.5 hours away from me. Baum told me it was an import. Regardless, the Baum quality is every bit as good.

These are mild steel, lathe turned (not ground) saw cut collets. Does not get any simpler than that. Truth be told, the case has more work than the tools :)
