I think I am at the end of fixes. First increase opening pressure, then have valve slightly open, but now there is nothing I can do to stop it. I had it welded open for a while, but really don't want that either. Is there any latest update I'm not finding with a search? That 1K capristo valve is just a tough pill to swallow.

Gothspeed just developed one as well that is supposed to solve rattling forever. However I think it's pricey as well.

I've read about this issue on the forum but out the my 3 cars (1 sold), I've never experienced this issue. I'm speculating that it should be able to be diagnosed and fixed.

Have you determined the exact location of the rattle ?
Did welding it open stop the noise ?
I had a "ticking" noise that was hard to hear, it got faster as RPMs picked up.
Took it to my Indy mech, he got a piece of clear 3' long semi-stiff hollow plastic hose.
Sticks one end in his ear and starts touching parts......
Less than 2 minutes he looks up and says "second cylinder right here, blown exhaust gasket"
....and that's what it was, thinking identify the exact location of the rattle first ?

Well when I reach in and grab the lever that comes off it the rattle stops. So, it's the bypass.

Rig a tension spring to it so it has weight on it

If you've tried everything and it hasn't worked but there's a guaranteed fix for $1k that's a very cheap solution, surely?

It is a Ferrari, after all.

+1 for this solution. Surely would be $5 in parts...a lot easier to swallow than the Capristo part.

I have seen two bypass valves repaired and replaced one that was brand new only to have it rattle at certain rpm.

The capristo is worth the coin! Trust me, the spring loaded action and the reversed vacuum operation via the new solenoid means the opening of the bypass is a snappy response that's reliable every time. You can control the opening with greater consistency with the right foot and the sound emitted is subsequently improved.

Question: Do we allow 355 owners to be such cheapskates? I really thought that was solely the purview of the 348 owners. ;)

there is a DIY bypass valve rattle fix. via search function
that I've performed recently myself and improved significantly!

this is likeky a temp solution but has been great thus far.

rotate max 2 turns counter clockwise.
this preloads pressure back on the stem to stop the rattle.

but obviously the capristo or Goth valves are the best permanent solutions.
of the 2 I'd probably go with a Goth unit!

I had mine replaced about 2k miles ago with a new one and it started rattling a month after. It goes away after the car has fully warmed up though so I don't care too much right now.

I'll replace it with a gothspeed one when it gets worse.

Had opportunity today to really test out my new Gothspeed bypass valve.
I am very happy with it. Amazing how all the buzzing and rattling of exhaust went away. The previous stock one was my third one (I have had the car for awhile). They always seemed to make some sort of inappropriate noise. Seeing the quality of the Gothspeed one, this one should continue to be better than the stock design.

LOL, food stamps and a Ferrari. I need to see a video. Park the 430 in the handicap stall, shop for stuff, pay with govt issue ATM card. Load items in Ferrari and drive off. Only in America.

I tried all of the so called "fixes" on FChat and none of them worked for me and the rattling continued to get worse.

Running with the new "Gothspeed" bypass on the car now. Its great to hear the engine again without all of that damn rattling!

There's a number of threads. Search will turn them up.
Mine's a 2.7 the PO wired it open but the engine was throwing CELs
I cut the wire and the CELs stopped, but the rattle started.
You can try the suggested adjustments. Didn't work for me.
one person dissected it & replaced the end bushing with a brass one (I believe)
Another method replaced the diaphragm with a Porsche part. I'm running this with no problems
Another method replaces the whole valve assembly with a similar one. I have to notch mine before I can mount & test it. One of these days

and of course the 3rd party market.
