Has anyone had a LARINI exhaust on their 328?
Not a 328 but I have a Larini exhaust on my 308 QV that came from a 328. I love the sound and performance it offers. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have it on my 328 and it sounds wonderful. There is a bit of drone, but not a cruising speeds and at idle is sounds amazing. I heard this first on a friends car and was so impressed I bought it. I much prefer it to the more traditional options. I have had the exhaust since about 2009.
I thought about having one fitted either on my GTB or my GTS; both are Euro, i.e, non-catalysed cars. I was on the verge of ordering one, but the whole exhaust line: headers, intermediary pipes, and exhaust. I decided against it after riding in a car fitted with one; much too loud, and too much of resonance in the cabin. I'm still toying with the idea however, still thinking about the complete exhaust line, but it won't be a Larini, but a Tubi. After hearing some 328s fitted with a Tubi exhaust, this is the sound I have in mind (matter of personal preference here). Rgds
Mike, I notice that you have removed the center panel (valence with the slots in it). Is that because it won't fit with the panel in place, or so that you can see the lovely stainless steel muffler and pipes?
Kind of yes to both question. I don't know if the valence will fit because as soon as installed the Larini then step back to look at it, I said to myself, I think I'm going to leave the valence off so not to cover the shiny stainless Larini. Had it on for almost 6 years and never tried to put back the valence on so, until now I don't know if it will fit.
I do, and as mentioned, it's loud and does tend to resonate. It is a very high quality piece, and looks great.
Resonating can be unacceptable, depends on the car whether it occurs at a speed that makes it a problem. I found it a problem, and reverted back to stock, with a fabspeed cat. That gave a bit of growl, without any resonance. I would try to cut a deal with a supplier who would allow you to return the item if it was not acceptable. You won't know til you live with it on your specific car.
I've noticed it mostly at cruising speed. To be fair, I'm not running a cat, so it my be exaggerated in my case.
