Seems to have grown a wing since then!

I agree, Joe. It's already good, but it's going to be a head-turner at Rob's lunch next summer.

    Fabulous!

We should thank you for bringing another enthusiast into the fold, your mentoring & guidance clearly paid off.

BTW, I meant to say that FLA12817 has not only received a wing since the 50th, but, its wrong-spec 25th Anniversario headlight cluster opaque lenses (see bottom image) http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144978760-post4373.html appear to have been changed in favor of the correct clear items such as ours below.

Speaking of ours, word reaches me that it has received its cad-plated ignition wires harness, plus other assorted hardware pieces similarly finished - excuse the cellphone pic.

I'll see it again tomorrow to check everything out in detail.

    JB,

Speaking of small things we can do over the winter, one thing I have noticed is how many cars have their steering-column collapsible rubber boot turn grey-white over the years.

I noticed from some old images of your car's lovely special-order interior that at one point this was the case. Whilst ours was apart for the restoration we had the ribber properly cleaned and treated and what a difference a small detail like that makes!

In case you havent already taken care of this, its an easy one for one weekend.

    Just a thought.

Thinking about 1985 Downdrafts, does anyone know the point at which the ZF gearbox was introduced?

This is an important question because the ZF 'box has a different ratio and was ultimately the one Homologated for FIA.

My guess is it was introduced very early in the 1985 production because it wasn't ready in time for the launch of the Downdraft, but that's just a guess and I would love to be corrected with accurate information.

Hi JB, I cleaned mine with Armor All trim spray. Silicone based so apply via cloth, not direct spraying. But if you google rubber cleaner / conditioner, then plenty of choices. Just choose something from a car detailing vendor. Autogylm, Zymol etc, you'll be fine.

I also did the rubber on the wing mirrors. Nice deep glossy black.

    Cheers
    Rob

Joe, I would really love to see some video of the car out in the sun. Sure this would show off the colour in a beautiful fashion.

Also Joe, what options are there for the ignition pack? Presime you would not want to fit the oroginal MM unit?

    John T!

My spies tell me you have a beautiful red Downdraft with just 4,800 miles!

What do you have that thing insured for, $1,000,000? :D
