Hello everyone, I'm looking into purchasing a 360 CS or a 430 Scuderia. Before I get more serious about actually purchasing either car, I wanted to know how the maintenance would be for them, as well as how it would do as a Daily Driver.

    Thanks, Logan

I have scud and it is fantastic now mine is low mileage and i do not use it as a daily driver i have driven it on trips of around 200 miles and loved it.. but i was ready to get out at at the time.. they are awesome cars... THe only thing i have had happen to mine other then the typical annuals was i had to replace a broken header bolt that was about a 4000 job as i recall that may have included the annual...
love the car this has the best looking back end of ANY recent ferraris or maybe any recent car.....mine is a 2009

well.... yearlies the same... CS has timing belt, so every 3 years needs replacing (yes...thats debatable!!) about $2,000 on top of yearly fluides.... and the SCUD is a timing Chain, so no replacement needed.

As far as comfort for a daily driver, you are much better off with the Scud.

And I would say maintenance would be cheaper also with the Scud.

Had a CS and now a 16M. I wouldn't really class either as a DD to be honest. They are both very loud and lacking in a few creature comforts. There are far better DD's I would suggest but if you really want one of these they are both stunning to drive - just not in a commute traffic queue!

Costs on these cars can be huge, annual service from £750 up to £7,000 - £10,000 if you need all suspension bushes redoing, main oil seal and large service. (Just had one of these). Be prepared!

Don't have much experience behind the wheel of a Scud, but I can tell you with confidence that the Stradale is in no way a daily driver - as much as I wish it could be!

As far as DD is concerned, depending on what you are willing to put up with. I DD an F40 back in the '90's and it was a breeze. So, I think the CS is a yawn. I would imagine the Scud is the same.

    Hero status granted! :-O

But you were kinda cheating because a stick is way better in oddball traffic!

The scuderia transmission has a bit smoother engagement for stop/go traffic. Also, the scud would be less maintenance than a CS. Personally I wouldn't DD either one though.

Fewer CS and no convertible CS make it a more collectible car than a Scud, IMO. Both are wonderful cars.

Thank you all for your advice. I'm fortunate enough to live in a place which doesn't have much traffic to get to work (just stoplights, no heavy traffic). One of the many things that pulls me towards the Scuderia is the rawness of it. What I mean by that, is how there's so much exposed carbon fibre, welds, nothing luxurious (Excluding the sound and AC). But at the same time, it feels updated. There's something about that which really gets my attention.

The Straddle is also very raw, but when I got to sit in it, it didn't feel as nice as the 430 Scud, IMO. Unfortunately I haven't driven either yet, but hopefully I will soon.

What should I look for when buying 430 Scuderia? Would it be smarter to buy a spider over a coupe? Does the reliability change?

    Thanks, Logan

Cs looks much better and sounds better imo. But the scuderia is better at everything else like performance, cost to own, comfort etc.

Mark, you actually can and no one would think twice. You've owned every Ferrari under the sun and never made threads asking about if you can use any as a dd. You just do.

Fwiw, I used my F40 as a dd for a little while and while it was perfectly competent, it's not the best use for a car like that. You will do better in the LF A.

I've had both previously and had the same dilemma when I decided to come back to Ferrari from McLaren. Scud or CS. IMO, if you want a collectable, get the CS. But it sounds like you want to drive the car so your choice should be Scud. Less costly to maintain, better DD, and more reliable with the updates the 430 has over the 360.

I still do want either of those cars or even all of them as a DD! As some of you may know, I went to the car collection, and test drove the F50. I came back to the states, waited sometime to think it through and then gave the guy a call to see if I could see if I could buy it. When I got a reply back from the guy, he basically said it was sold. I found it hard to believe that it was sold within 2 or 3 weeks, but that's what happened. As for the F12, I decided I'd wait for the next gen to come out and get that brand new, or think about a 488 spider.

So now here I am thinking about getting a Scuderia or Stradale.

As for rarity, is the Scuderia more rare than the CS. Also, which of the cars ( Scuderia, 16m, CS) would hold their value. And is now a good time to get a Ferrari?

    Thanks
