I was referring to the Testarossa, not the Lusso! I suspect it is just that between the original photograph, the scanning and then the rendering to screen that it isn't necessarily an totally accurate depiction of the colour. Or my records could be wrong... I don't know about the proportion of Rosso Corsa cars. 95% seems like a lot. Jonathan Jonathan

It seems Colonel Hoare had a preference for dar blue! See my picture of his early Daytona toward the beginning of this thread. I also saw a later Daytona in Blue Sera or something similar, bearing his BRDC badge. I also seem to recall a 365 GT4 or 400i. Of course, I should say Maranello demonstrators, driven by Hoare! I was there on the day Mark took his photos and by then the old chap was struggling to get into the TR! John

Many years ago there was an article in the FOC magazine, 'Ferrari', about the train set and from what I recall, it was claimed to be the largest 'O' guage layout in the world. The engines were all built individually by model engineers, IIRC he offered it to the National Railway Museum (perhaps in his will) and they turned it down due to a lack of space! Presumably it was subsequently sold piecemeal. I think David Clarke, founder of Graypaul, was also a model railway enthusiast of some note.

No Ed. You were absolutely correct. Further, in case my memory was failing me, I have confirmed this with Tony Willis. That blue TR is Chiaro Blue. For those that are wondering, this is a different colour to the Chiaro Blue used on Daytona's, Dino's etc, but has the same name. I am sure the actual paint code will be different. It is my opinion that Sera and Medio came a bit later. Mark
Dear Jonathan The colour in those pictures is pretty good. They are, like nearly everything I post here, scanned from my negatives. Sometimes subsequent colour balance correction is needed, but they normally come out pretty good. Mark

024 when owned by Sir Anthony P. Bamford and raced by Willie Green. That special rear section was fabricated following Alain De Cadenet's crash in practice for the Holts Trophy, Crystal Palace, London, on 3rd August 1968. The tail was repaired by Arch Motors and the rear section was done by Wilkinson's of Derby. Bamford then purchased the car, sold it August 1978 to Harley Cluxton III. Marcel Massini

That was a great event. Somewhere I have loads of pics of it but so much more difficult digging out old prints from a box or negs rather than searching for digital files on a computer. One day I'll get round to it

On this note, if there's anyone with a stack of old photos (probably 6"x4", I guess), who wants to scan them, I can recommend a product called the Doxie Flip. It's an iPad sized scanner that's perfect for quick but decent quality scans of old photos. The colour fidelity might not be as spot on as a much pricier desktop unit, but it does the job - and it's fast. Ignore any marketing guff about wireless SD functionality (it's not supported any more) but the rest is all great. I've used it to scan a few of my contacts' old photos (and I have a negative scanner, too), and they've come out really well so far. -Ed
Hi all, Does anyone know the story with s/n 15523? I've PM'd the owner, but wondered if other users can shed light on it. An LHD car was sold with this chassis number in Gstaad in 2002. A note on the screen explained that it was recorded as a RHD UK delivery originally. So was this car in Gstaad 15523? Or was it an impostor? -Ed
This thread seems to have been a bit inactive. I came across this photograph earlier of Cozy Powell with his 308 GTB. Jonathan Tremlet recalls a previous post about this car and believes it be #19385.It would be great if the owner could confirm. Or if we could just turn the car to see the reg number.......
