There is the saying "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.. :) So 99% of the quoted HP's are at the crank/flywheel, often measured without "power-eaters" such as alternators and power steering.

    Exactly, It sounds better!

You rarely see today mentioned the two seperate figure which roughly equate to the abbreviations S.A.E. and D.I.N..

The former was roughly a bench measurement achieved on an engine dyno and the latter an "as it is installed" figure in use..

The German manufacturers used to often quote D.I.N. Figures which were always more accurate when tested for obvious reasons..

    Hello group,

We are about to begin a frame up, nut and bolt restoration, on chassis #19959 and are in the process of gathering the parts and pieces needed to produce a show winner.

I did a search of this thread and was unable to find any discussion regarding which radio would have been in the car when it was delivered? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Additionally the car currently has a very pretty, but incorrect, stainless steel exhaust system installed. We are looking to replace it with an original.

It's my understanding they left the factory with no radio, that was a dealer option so you put in what you wanted then. Sounds a great project you're doing there, hope you post pictures of the progress!

Thank you, I won't lose any sleep over a radio. I was working at Chinetti's when these cars were introduced. With no Boxer for the US and only the Dino badged GT4s available the arrival of the Vetroresina was a very big deal for Ferraristi (and especially me).
I am as excited about restoring this car as I was the many 250 GTOs I have done because there is a connection there. I plan to share my experience on these pages.

There is another thread somewhere about radio options in the 308s. The Euro cars may have had radios delivered from the factory as I recall. The US cars did not because the Euro radios did not tune well (or possibly at all) in the US.

My Car (20791) had a períod blaupunkt instaled. It was delivered new in Belgium.

Where can I find a document showing concours guidelines for judges for a VTR?
Only found on the web for v8 Ferraris but not that specific .
    Thank you all

I've found another classic I'd like to buy so thinking of selling my rhd UK Vetro to fund it. Thought I'd mention it here on the forum as this is where I found it and regular viewers to this thread will I'm sure recognise it.

If you go to my profile there is a small album of pictures to give you an idea of the car, it has to be one of the best in the UK and has recently been granted it's Classiche certification.

The past 4 years in my ownership has been spent getting it into the condition you see it in now. Just to mention the full head rebuild to replace the original sodium valves and weber carb rebuild so mechanically it runs perfectly. It's also had a full suspension rebuild with all new bushes and a geometry set up which means it handles as good as it left the factory, not a rattle or squeak anywhere. Finally I've had the paintwork and interior brought up to show standard so it looks fabulous.

I think I'm being very realistic in asking £150,000 for it, which reflects the current Ferrari market, down on what it was last year. If anyone is seriously interested please pm me or email to [email protected] and just to say I won't be placing it with anyone for a commission sale.

    Thanks for looking, Mike

Seems like a very reasonable price, almost too reasonable for a Vetro in such nice condition.

Darn tempting! But with the local more stringent enforcement of tax issues, it will bring the value to over $300k :(

Good luck Mike and fine her a good home!

I am seeing more and more euro Vetros with black fender louver vents. I am assuming that this was either a popular dealer conversion, or came this way from the factory.

I don't like it, it doesn't look right at all. The black grill to look right on the fenders need the black hood grill like when they came out.

Current bid is at $199,000, 14 bidders, and looks like it reached the reserve price. Will be sold.

When I looked earlier, there were still 4 days remaining, now it's indicating that the auction has ended. I assume that they sold it.
