^Yeah, but the guy driving the flatbed probably didn't own IT or the luxo SUV on the back. So he would've come out ahead. :-D

OK so when fueling up at the gas station today, a guy runs up and asks if he can take a picture. I say sure. He snaps it with a big smile and then says "my friend knows everything about these kind of cars. He'll be able to tell me which one it is and how much it costs".

Gets in his car and drives away. ????

I drove my 360 this morning to meet a friend. While waiting in line for coffee someone asked me if I have trouble finding gas for my Ferrari in Colorado. I said it just takes normal high octane of 91 or 93. He said that he has a friend with a Ferrari and complains that it only takes 110 octane or it won't run and all Ferraris need super high octane. I said that running super high octane in some cars can actually do a little harm, cause hard starts, and cause CELs. He looked at me like I don't know anything about Ferraris. Go figure.

I've also been told that all Ferraris have a computer that automatically calls the nearest police station if someone other than the owner attempts to drive away with it. Bet you didn't know that.

Right! I hope his friend gets back to me soon so I can finally know what model it is and how much its costs.

I'd be more concerned at making sure I find a 110 octane pump at every destination...... That can't be easy

Don't laugh - I once got a concerned call from a friend, who didn't know I was away, that he'd just seen someone driving my 308 through his village! I had to reassure him that the foster mum was legit!

Stopped at a gas station in Pacific Grove during Monterrey week. A woman saw the yellow symbol on the hood and asked "what kind of Porsche is that"?

I was cruising some small roads along the Maine coast in my 550 and a guy on a Harley was following me. He followed me for about 20 miles and when I pulled over to get fuel, he stopped to chat. He said beautiful car, worth about $450K? I gave him a range of what a car like it was worth. He said if he ever won the lottery he figured he would pick up a Miura SV for $500K. I explained he would need 3x that amount for a SV, he was astonished they were going for that much. He asked if he could take a picture of the car, I said he could, he took the pic and got back on his bike and drove away without saying another word.

This Saturday parked my 328 before going into a store.

Two little girls about 6-7 with their Dad are walking by.

They start jumping up and down when they see the car (the girls, not the Dad) and say "Look an old Mustang!".

I look at the Dad and smile and say "Cool an old Mustang!".

Dad tries to tell the girls it's a Ferrari but they're not fooled they know it's an old mustang and tell Dad again what it is.

Stupid grownups obviously don't know their mustang models. :)

I think it's cool that 7 year old girls get excited about seeing an older cool car, regardless of what they think it is. I bet 10 years from now they'll know the difference! ;)

I know, at least in the US, that they commonly get mistaken for Mustangs. A part from the fact the logo includes a horse (even if completely different poses) that folk think they look similar.

I have that Ferari T-shirt with Mustang Logo in red because I think it's pretty funny (and I love Mustangs as well as Ferraris) but I do find this confusion odd.

A few weeks ago took out my 355 after a 2-3 week hiatus. In LA exotics are fairly common but I was surprised to get 3 reactions the same day from people.

    1) Group of 20 somethings were in an Uber and kept yelling every time they drove by (was in traffic). They weren't even drunk yet.

    2) While getting gas, some older woman pulls up behind me in a 996 and asks me if I ever put race gas in it. I told her no and she proceeded to tell me where there's a good race gas station. Found that interesting.

    3) Right as I parked to get food, a couple in their 50s parks next to me. The husband said something generic like nice/beautiful car and then the wife says I've always loved the engines in these! That kind of baffled me since the engine was turned off and I wasn't sure if she was talking about Ferraris in general or just 355s...or maybe just wanted to say something nice?

I had someone ask me the other day if I have hard time finding gas for the Ferrari in Colorado. I said no. He said he has a friend in California who has one and has to put in "super super high octane gas or else it won't run." I said I put in the regular high octane from one of the ethanol free stations. He said I should find that gas his friend uses. I said, well, the cars are tuned for a certain octane range and not only does using higher octane not help but it can cause damage to the cats and stuff because some of the fuel doesn't get burned. I didn't want to bore him any more so I said have a nice day and walked away.

The worst is when they tell you something like that and totally think they're right and you're completely wrong. Haven't had it happen to me but have heard stories.

99.9% of the gas stations in California only go up to 91 octane.

Out of state visitors get confused when they come here and want to fill up.
