Our old friend 409! I'm glad it had new subframe Rich, as my brother in law poked a screwdriver through the original one several years ago whilst it was in its pre-restoration state!
Shame it didn't go back to its original gold afterwards though.

    Cheers all.

    Hello AMLC,

192 has had more lives than a Russian courtesan (to use a polite term). New to Japan then years in the US briefly at Symbolic in la Jolla then in Chicago -I helped that dealer get information from the factory in 2008- then years on the market in Germany. This is due to the automatic gearbox but also bizarre interior color combinations, see photos of what it looked like a few years ago...at least the interior is more coherent now.

It was actually metallic blue with white leather when it was finished in March of 1975...so through the years it went through various changes including the white paint which in Japan is very popular as it means purity. Any blue is good on a Khamsin so this one would really benefit from a return to that color.

    Best regards,

    Marc

A friend of mne is selling his 1975 Khamsin with manual transmission.
    Car is in excellent condition.
What is the current market value for a 1975 Khamsin?

I have seen Khamsins this year from 100+k€ to 220.000€ (for a red one last week at a classic car show in Berlin, Germany)
why is there such a huge spread?

    Hello,
Please provide more details: where is it located? Euro model or US? If US has the bumper conversion been done? chassis number (it begins with AM120)? Colors? recent work carried out? Photos? There is a vast spread because some people hope for 2014 prices while others may have tired cars or may be undervaluing their cars.

    Hello Marc,

That is indeed an 'exotic' looking interior!

I also note that the rear seats were taken out. Not that I am contemplating doing this myself, but I've been thinking about the reasons why Maserati didn't make the seatback folding, and the only thing I can come up with is that the seat is an excuse for having a brace in the back to improve torsional stability. If that is indeed the case, taking it out may not be the best of ideas.

    Best,

    Jack.

    Hi Jack,

Yes it certainly looks better now.

Remember that my photos of 192 show the car several years ago, the auction catalog photos are current.
I have done three bumper conversions though I am not att all the mechanically inclined type and can confirm that there is no structural cross brace, the rear seat bench just comes right off. 044, a car destroyed almost new in France, came without the tiny back bench (or seats for legless dwarves being punished as I call them).

    Best regards,

    Marc

I need to ask more details. Car is a Euro version and has 80.000 Km, Engine has run 10.000 Km since the last service.
Are prices today closer to 200k€ or rather down to 150k€?

The red Khamsin last week was a very nice example and had a sticker of 220k€ and had just sold.
The seller would not reveal though what the car actually sold for.

As they are comparatively rare transaction prices vary based on condition of course but also negotiation, in Spain Italy, France typically (apart from at auctions) they sell for less than in Switzerland, Holland and Germany. I mean one even sold for €274K at auction in June 2015...but some cars sell for little over €120K it all depends on condition mileage and maintenance. Cars left to sit for a long time require proper reawakening. I doubt the red car sold for over €200K. That one was on the market a long time.

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Bonsoir Giotto:)!

This is AM120.270 a very good car and furthermore the only K residing in Modena used regularly. There are two others, in museums, Panini and Stanguellini.

But...don't you mean this is the Padova show...?

    Best regards,

    Marc

    The engine number is no. AM115 10/49 0032 (see 1975 Maserati Khamsin | Duemila Ruote 2016 | RM Sotheby's)
    So could it be AM120.032?

    Hello All,
Just thought I would post a quick pic of the car this morning. This was at the Duke of London, cars and coffee meet at Kew today.
The car was very well received, hope you are all out and about in the nice weather

Hi Rich. Good to see your Khamsin out and about. I must admit I was rather taken aback at the location of the Duke of London dealership. I live 10 mins drive away, and often go down Lionel Rd on my way to work, and yet I was totally unaware of the facility.

I see the c&c is a monthly event. Do you have any plans to go in future?
It would be good to meet up for a natter.

    All the best

    Mark.

Hi All I inspected this car today that coming up for Auction in Sydney in at the Shannons Auction, Sydney Australia
    https://www.shannons.com.au/auctions/2016-shannons-sydney-spring-classic-auction/B0JAOBB8712W611B/

The Car is in good basic shape and has had a recent paint probably clear and presents reasonably well.
It has the usual tired Khamsin issues but nothing major, but needs a good going through.
I have lots of pictures other than the auction ones so if you interested let me know
Some of the detail you cannot see.
Cracked and repaired Front suspension towers supports(common) rear Suspension Cradle cracked lower forward suspension pickup(common)

    Hi Mark,
Yes, if you drove past the area on a normal day it there would be no sign of anything special. The site has a few heavy industrial units, but also on site is "Romance of Rust" a specialist coachworks / panel beaters and "Duke of London" which is a dealer.
The meetings are monthly but do stop during the winter months- this may have been the last for this year- (but this does depend upon weather).

I live in the Surrey area (about 30 mins drive to the duke), always happy to meet up with like minded enthusiasts.
PM me you contact details if you wish, we still may have some nice days before the roads are salted and horrible for a catch up with a coffee somewhere???
    Cheers,
    Rich
PS, do you have a pic of your K for everyone's interest?

    Hi Graeme,

Than you for your photos and expert engineer review. I hope it finds an owner down in Oz who gives it a good rejuvenation, it needs it and also as one of what a dozen or less left down under it deserves it. I have never seen the fuel cap cubicle turning green with dampness, green like Kakadu national park...

Let us know what happens/happened in the auction.

    All the best,

    Marc

I urge caution to anyone interested, the car is in Japan, represented by two people in Germany including the person posting above who won't say or don't know what the chassis number is, all a bit too vague.

The price does not make it particularly interesting either considering shipping costs and even more so duty.

I don't mean to be harsh just stating facts.

Can you Lambodriver please give us the chassis number and confirm where it can be inspected if anyone should show serious interest?

    Thank you, best regards,

    MS
