Wow.. what a mess. Pretty certain there's a lot of rust hiding under that black rattle can job. 1978 Ferrari 308 Berlinetta | eBay Seeing a 308 in this condition breaks my heart. Pricing is delusional also. Really don't see this going anywhere except the salvage yard .
The car looks straight. Lots of work to do. Looks like a resto that was abandoned. Good project for somebody to play with over time.
I have been looking for a 70s GTB Carb but can't take another restoration project and this one looks involved.
If the current owner paid that someone $34,000 to take it, I would agree but not the other way around.
That thing would suck the quality of life from a person and leave you hating cars by the time it was done! Life is too short, Buy a running car and actually drive it! Even then you get to tinker around with the tempermental old girl plenty.
I was considering this for a group 4 homage type build. The kind of things I'd like to do with mine but it's too nice to screw with ... I'm thinking flared wheel arches, rally interior. Maybe some P6 cams. Something angry... But I suspect it will bid beyond what I am prepared to pay as a starting point.
If, and that is a GIGANTICALLY HUGE IF, you can verify the rest of the important bits like seats, windows, gauges, trim pieces big and small, and the rest of the engine bay components are there and in a rebuildable state it might be worth close to where the bidding is at now. I wonder why in the hell they took the build plate off? I could get most of it back together but I don't have the time or money to take it on right now. It is a GTB though. Would be fun to do but would also be spendy!!! Oh but hey there are two extra carbs so you could make part of the price back by selling them.
My eyes may be failing me but judging from the pile of parts, this poor girl spent alot of time in a humid climate. Just looking at the sending unit mounted in one of the tanks looks horribly rusted, along with numerous other pieces. Anyone wanting a project would be well advised to strip all that yellow high build primer back down to metal and see exactly what they've purchased. And why pull the complete electrical harness out of the car?? Don't see this GTB ever going back to the same state it left the factory. LOL I would be all in at $10,000 and have 1 million tiny pieces of garage Art!
Just wow.. it looks like someone who didn't know what they were doing attempted a full restoration...and ran out of money/time/motivation. What a mess and money pit.. I hope someone restores it but they probably shouldn't..
I know its a big job, but at least it seems quite solid.Unlike this car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNqQ6lQMF3w
