I don't think he was even thinking about giving the place up...he set in the ''room of awkwardness'' that he saw Ham doing the same thing he did and didn't get a penalty.

Still can't quite believe that Lewis Hamilton locked up, straight lined turn 1 and returned to the track both a mile down the road and well ahead of everyone else AND it was ruled a legit move....... Without all the contretemps and confusion behind he would surely have had to give up his first place on lap 1?

Agreed and from that perspective kudos to Vettel for saying what many already think.

But: Balestre made Senna fly to Paris to apologize and Schumacher was once stripped of all season points. Granted that was for different stuff but wouldn't be surprised if the FIA comes down on Vettel in some way. Like 100 hours community service. Clean up the trash after a race.

 

No question - if he had to park it, turn it, and rejoin ahead of T2, he would have been mounted by about 10 cars. Race over. He made a mistake, bailed, gained an advantage and no one said anything. Makes no sense.

Put some suspension destroying curbs out there and gravel instead of grass so there is no way to cut. Problem solved.

 

A lot of that happens on the first lap without being called (check out Monza through the years). Max was specifically in a duel with Vettel and responded that way.

I believe the circumstances are viewed differently because of the chaos associated with a race start (though I agree that nothing influenced LH to lock up and go off course...he just missed his brake point and too evasive action and got a big gap temporarily)

 

Vettel has just been a ***** with whining about everything and everybody. Just drive man. I am sick of him and I am a tifosi. END OF!
