I read this a few days ago. To be honest, people more or less know the condition Michael is in. He is immobile, maybe, maybe not can communicate, etc. Brain injury can hurt the strongest, and it takes a huge amount of time to recover. The magazine took a cheap shot probably to see the actual status of Michael, even though, this was in December last year I think, almost a year ago. So, we know that as of December last year, he can't stand/walk etc, by himself. What we do not know is the current condition he is in. Personally, i think if the Schumacher family held a press conference, with the surgeon who operated on him, and gave a detailed picture, answered questions, etc about MS, the nightmare would probably be over. Once the truth have been spilt out, people get bored and move on. Only once it's mysterious, people still talk about it. Many times when i catch up with my mates, and we talk about Michael, and the most obvious thing on everyone's lips are : How is Michael doing? And no one knows. I believe, if the family bares everything, it will probably shut off the attention for a decent amount of time, and it will probably be good even for Mick, so that no one actually keep on hassling him about the same topic (i agree with Sammy's opinion of Mick doing a Kimi style interview) I think people more less knows what condition our champ is in. So why even hide it? They have more less leaked the details through denials, etc. I don't see the issue of coming clean. When Christopher Reeve was paralyzed, his family and himself informed everyone, and i think he was in peace until his final days. No one kept hassling him, instead, i knew many people prayed for his recovery and admired his willpower. I saw this few days ago : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZR0a2GzGEA Alex Zanardi didn't hide anything, he nearly died, but he still managed to recover, and kept on pushing with a supportive family. Today, so much people admire him. Would it be the same if he kept things a secret?
I think I'm gonna get a bit of scrutiny for this post, but it's all just out of frustration. I'm just tired of not knowing what's going on with Michael. I do respect the family's privacy, but comm'on its been 3 years an NO ONE still knows what's going on. All I hear are rumors. Let's face it, we all pretty much kinda know, but I would think a family member out of respect for ALL his MILLIONS of fans should have a press conference and just tell us. I'm kinda getting over it! Basically what Hartstein said after it was over 2 years : We are now over two years since the injury. Despite the familys silence, one can safely assume that were there to have been ANY good news, wed have gotten it. After all, the family allows close friends to make statements (e.g. hes still fighting, etc) https://formerf1doc.wordpress.com/2016/02/05/luca-di-ms-statement/ Best, Sammy
Here in South Texas its not that bad......mclaren 675, slr, vipers(new ones), gallardo...all drive around town effortlessly.....but you do not want to go in any of those, let alone a LaFerrari, cars 125 miles south(closer to mexico)....it attracts attention...drug traffickers put a surveillance on you....kidnapping is big down there....stay low key and under the radar I always say. Diana was more known here....daughter is 22(3 when diana died) and knew her first.....then MS came second when she got older by me.
Normally, I would not post a link such as this...but I don't think I have seen anything quoted from Brawn before... Schumacher showing "encouraging signs", says Brawn
Will never understand the mentality of not giving medical info, even obvious one. And privacy? Please. The family could give updates in many different ways, while keeping their privacy. Even short and far between statemets, like 'He's walking now. Thank you for your continued support'. Or whatever the case. If I was a public figure, I wouldn't mind that at all. After all, if the guy hasn't left his house, and/or hasn't been seen by anybody in years, it's not like he's doing great. Some members of my family are the same way about ANY medical issue, like if it was a shame being sick or something. Oh well. Wish the dude well. I have cancer, so he might outlive me. I just proved I'm not like that. He he.
"Will never understand the mentality of not giving medical info, even obvious one. And privacy? Please. The family could give updates in many different ways, while keeping their privacy." 'Will never understand the mentality of someone deciding what another {b]should[/b] or should not make public about their personal lives. "I have cancer, so he might outlive me. I just proved I'm not like that." You shouldn't do that.
Exactly. The pro/against argument is tiresome as neither group will agree. Families own choosing what they do and don't share. I don't blame them.
i honestly think most of the privacy has a lot to do with just how dire the circumstances were and later how little positive news there was. it's an incredibly emotional and private matter, so the family literally owes us nothing, but i think it's even harder to transmit incredibly low expectations to the public. i'm a huge fan and wish him the very best, but at this point, my expectations are no longer too high. unless an individual is in a lengthy coma, some progress would have been seen by now if great improvement were expected. my wife is a speech therapist and she works with head trauma victims and she's not overly optimistic at this point. of course, we'd love to be wrong. i was very interested to see what schumi was going to do post F1 - he had unlimited possibilities in the world of F1.

A little more (or is it less?) from Ross Brawn: Former Mercedes F1 boss says Michael Schumacher showing no signs of improvement
He is trying to back paddle because of the family but he is sticking with the comments re: improvements
