Maurizio Arrivabene - Ferrari car has an 'endemic problem' So now they've discovered an "endemic" problem. Good Lord!! Every week there's a new excuse and yet another "solution" yet unsurprisingly, nothing has changed all season. This constant drabble that "the performance today didn't reflect the true results" as if there's some force magically keeping the car from it's potential is BS. The car is the car. I have yet to be surprised all season by the difference in race pace to qually to FP 1, 2, or 3. It's all the same throughout the weekend despite what Vettel and Ferrari promise. They are stagnant and dare I say going backward somewhat. The sad part is, it's clearly possible to dramatically improve your car... clearly Red Bull figured it out and blew right past Ferrari. Remember the first part of the season, Ferrari were dismissive of the increasing competition from RB and even arrogantly stated that the Mercs were still their competition. How things change when you don't make excuses. Now, RB has blown right by them leaving them in 3rd place with zero hope of improving their standings. Every week it's "this has changed - that has changed and we're seeing the results." Really? Where? Say what you want about RB, but it seems they get out of their own way to improve.
Yea...shocking news LOL. He should be fired for saying something more than apparent lol. This Ferrari has the operating window of a sand flea and maybe not that large. IF you want to know who the best teams are its clearly not Ferrari. In terms of strict pace of development and overall improvement Ferrari are probably not in the top 3 right now lol!
Well, I guess that it shows first and foremost that they are really lost...no Ferrari driver on the first step of the podium before 2019 at best? Rgds
Between a car that cannot perform and a team that can't make a good strategy decision to save their lives, I'm wondering if their future has anything different to offer. This has been going on now for what... a decade almost? They've become a super costly version of Williams... can't get the car to reach it's potential, can't get an update that actually works, and can't make the right call when it counts. I just hope Vettel doesn't languish there for years like Alonso did.

Arrivabene is just firefighting the media. I wouldn't blame him for Ferrari's woes. He isn't the one that should be on trial, IMO, but the technical team: they cannot deliver a good car, and the drivers are struggling for pace. Ferrari's chronical pit shamble and poor strategy can be cured, but the car must be good first of all.
I'm not sure if it's the quality of the people on the team or how its run.. or both... that's the problem. But how is it that Merc and RB can continue on fairly steep trajectories while Ferrari remains stagnant?
Unfortunately, in F1 you cannot develop a good car overnight. You cannot start hiring new blood mechanics so they can fix your problems. You need people with extended experience in the sport. That's one of the main reasons we see the same mechanics circulating between teams. Having said that, all good aero designers and mechanics are taken for the moment. Ferrari is trying to develop a good car and improve one with the same people that has for years now. I can't foresee any good changes unless they start hiring some new mechanics (from other teams).

You can hire as many different mechanics as you wish. If they have a poor design to start with, there is no mechanic on earth that can perform magic on it.
A good organization identifies and solves problems as soon as they are discovered. Covering them up to save yourself is counterproductive. Letting them fester until they can be discovered by a cigarette salesman is unthinkable.

The solution is simple. Ferrari haven't won a race since I bought my F430. They just need to make it worth my while to sell it and they'll be back to winning ways.

But for those that have listened to that powerful speech of Paul Harvey "and God made a farmer", one can make the analogy that the "caretakers" (the teams) of Ferrari(the prancing horse) " do not have the farmer in them. (as the caption says at the end of the video). You could name it " and God made Enzo" and plug in your own ideologies, idioms, perspectives, and experiences as it relates to Ferrari. Its a mind set.....a sacrifice(family, friends, your life, birthdays, anniversaries) if the teams of Ferrari want to get it back to where it was.

They had a good 2015 season. Then for no reason, they set the bar higher for this year. And when things didn't go according to plan, the blame and finger pointing game started, and instead of focusing on improving the car, the team spends lots of time firefighting the media. And last year was a transitional year as well, pre-vettel & pre-allison. The glory of that year can only fairly be attributed to their predecessors ie this year's moonwalk is 100% on the current ppl
Lots of the inability to develop the 2016 car as rapidly as Mercedes, Red Bull, and even Force India must be related to the departure of Allison. The looming problem is that there doesn't seem to be a capable replacement. Or, that development of next years car may be jeopardized by a lack of talented leadership at a time when the design team needs to accommodate big changes. My bet is that next year is a disaster, based on the development pace of the 2016 car.
Agreed. Remember, Vettel shot out in front in Montreal at the start and could have held that lead if the tire strategy was more aggressive on a freezing cold day. But that was early June, months ago. RB's rise is due precisely to the infusion of Tag Heuer PU cash. Simple as that. Chassis and aero were already there.
