Just doing some searching for F355's for sale and on Car Gurus they list the number of days for sale. Not sure if this is accurate or not but the average days for sale is 138. So this has to mean that people are not paying the prices that the sellers think their cars are worth?

Thoughts? Is this an accurate view of the current market?

No. And, most of the pristine 355 change hand privately or via this site.

I think you will find generally, and it becomes apparent if you watch internet ads over time, that a large fraction of collector cars advertised have been advertised for some time. Ones that are priced right for condition do not last long, or as Dave notes may not be advertised at all.

So the average price online does not reflect the market accurately, or at least does not necessarily represent the value of the car being advertised since the ads that survive tend to be cars on the market a long time. Plus people can advertise any price they want and practically everyone advertises at a higher price than they will ultimately accept.

That said, prices online, and even Hagerty values give you a rough ballpark and allow you to see trends and relative valuations fairly clearly. E.g., 348 vs 355 vs 360 or spider vs targa vs berlinetta.

I have never advertised my "special" cars when I was ready to sell. I always have gone word of mouth (private sale) and sold for solid market price. Just have to know the right people to let know you are going to turn a car.
