Both cars have a PRV V6 (2.8 L), in the A310 is was always carburetted, the later model was also available in Turbo (2.5 L) and carburettor (GTA) PRV stands for Peugeot/Renault/Volvo, a very common engine and also used in more exciting stuff like the DeLorean but also the MVS Venturi (Turbo). Initially Renault planned the GTA also for the US but it never made it there, therfor the production numbers stayed relativly low, approx 1500 carburettor cars and 4500 Turbo's. The main marked was France with a good second Germany.....The car was a real competitor for the 944 Turbo.
Cool interior! I always had a soft spot for the Alpine, and once got to even see an A310 in the "flesh" at Road America during the Brian Redman Vintage weekend. What do you mean, "more exciting stuff like the DeLorean but also the MVS Venturi"? Hell, I thought the Alpine was exciting! The Venturi cars were cool too! I'm an '80's / '90's car guy. So many cool cars came out back then. Are you in the US with your Alpine?
The Alpine is very exciting, the less exiting stuff: Renault 25/30/Espace Peugeot 505/605 Volvo 240/940/960 I am based in The Netherlands, some Renaults made it Stateside in that period though: LeCar (5 in Europe), I think even the very spectacular 5Turbo2 and the 9, do not know the US name for that car. Even here they you see them raraly, people are staring more to this car compared to my Ferrari Dino GT4, mainly because people do not know the car (anymore) in combination with its low profile and futuristic appearance and there are hardly any badges that you can actually read.
