    But blokes like them!

This was a run I did last weekend with the local Classic Car Club; it's known as "Snowy's Run" in honour of a mate who died after breaking his neck in the surf 2 years ago. Mix of other cars - MGB, Chevrolet wagon from the 50s, EH Holden much loved by a young bloke who inherited it from his grandad; FC Holden also inherited, but from a father-in-law; Hillman Minx convertible (very cute and quite rare I'd imagine); 60's panelvan complete with vintage racks and surboard plus a couple of other old Aussie classics I can't name properly!

    Depends...
My 328 GTB, which is red, is really no chick magnet, but kids love it: I suppose this is because the car is small and low by today's standards, and look like a toy; blokes like it also, of course.
My 328 GTS does indeed work rather well as a chick magnet (and believe me, it is obvious that it comes from the car and not her driver) but I think it is the matched, and subdued, colors: nero metallic / gray leather / black carpets that "does the trick": women always say that this choice of colors is very elegant and just perfect.
So I would say that, as far as chick magnets are discussed: black is better than red; GTS better than GTB.
But that may be true for 328s only...

Ferraris in general are not chick magnets as they are feminine cars, as Luca stated. So they are seen as the owners mistress and often referred to as "that old thing".

Masculine cars such as Bentleys are chick magnets.

Confused though because the hood and trunk lid are aluminium :-?

I don't think the engine hood is in aluminium, it's steel; only the front hood is in aluminium.
(BTW, for a rear-engined car, which one would be the bonnet?)

My friends say I must attract a lot of babes when I go to night clubs in my 308. I tell them it would, if I could get them to let me drive it on the dance floor :(

I never get a second look from women in my 328. My wife gets all kinds of attention when she drive it though. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I can't say that my blue 328 (or its driver) is a chick magnet but it (the car) does get approving looks from many people: male, female, young, old but mostly car guys who remember Magnum PI. Being blue, the car doesn't scream "look at me" or "mid-life crisis." Vancouver has a large number of exotic and prestige cars, often driven by wealthy young guys. I surmise that those cars and their drivers are chick magnets but also garner at least as much resentment. The 328, at least in blue, never encounters "haters."

I recall a former business associate saying that it wasn't his car or how he dressed that attracted women, but the fragrance he wore: "eau de wallet."

I have found my 308 to be a powerful friend magnet.

Many new friendships since buying my 308. Never expected it.

Well of course! you did buy half the carbed 308s, the 208 Turbo and the 328 in all Italy; and all the Schedoni luggage sets too...

Reminds me of one of my first 308 experiences, when I was actively looking at cars for sale. Went to check one out locally, and the Seller made the comment: "Everyone thinks Ferraris are chick magnets, but they're NOT; they're d**k magnets. Go anywhere and all the dudes will be milling around taking pictures, while the women say, 'Is that a Corvette?' You want pick up chicks, buy a puppy."

Only if they have some incomprehensible attraction to microswitches rather than chrome toggles ;)

Bonnet would always be the lid at the front. As you probably know, bonnet is derived from the word for hat. Old French maybe?

I have a red 83 308 GTS-QV. My wife hates it. It's "too loud, too low, too uncomfortable ... and for heaven's sake, it's not automatic!!!"

One day I drove home my law partner's red Porsche Boxter. She thought it was the 308. She literally could not tell the difference between the two!

    Who cares? I love it!

SO true. I was on a test drive of the new Bentley SUV this past weekend in Beverly Hills and the girls were giving it looks, most only because they know it cost $$$. They don't care what you drive, only if you have money to sped on them.

I find that my 328 gets more attention than my 355 but it is mainly from guys checking out the car.

Yes, any pictures of the other cars? That Hillman Mink convertible sounds quite exciting! In 1963, my dad bought a Hillman Super Minx and that was "super exciting". Well, maybe not. Truthfully, having been a tourist in Australia, I think they have lots of interesting local variants, including some high performance models, of US, Japanese and Euro cars. Some pictures would be cool. Bring on the "utes" and the Holdens!!!!
