Those were the antithesis of the Pontiac ads, but no less effective.
They knew who their customer was.

always wondered about egress/ingress with a round door....

maybe that's why we never saw too many cars with them

 

Looks like my dad's '38 Plymouth in the back.
It was old when he bought it.

 

Wonder if they heard the story of the Emperor had no clothes.

Can't wait for Peter DeL to take aim at this one.

Too cool, Wayne! Noticed in the most recent iteration that they lowered the turn signal arm so it no longer bisects the trim piece.

 

Nice! And your note re: egress/ingress would certainly be put to the test in this application.

 

swinging your legs past the opening would be a challenge I'm guessing

The Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild was the start of many designer's careers.
Between 1930 and 1968 thousands of aspiring designers lent their model making/design skills to building entries to compete for the scholarship money GM was offering.
They recently celebrated a reunion at Art Center College of Design and attached are photos:

Interesting gathering.

Dean's Garage also has some info on a book covering the current Camaro. In the excerpt that is quoted it tells how Boniface developed the concept for the current model while Tom Peters worked on a forward looking design.

So how different was the Peter's developed idea? I do not like the current design - way too retro, way to over worked surfaces and an upper that is so squashed that it is a caricature.

 

That describes a lot of cars today.

 

it's a bit overcooked for my personal taste, but I certainly commend the effort to do a one-off design of your own making
