So how come Harris finished 6th in the Blancpain series in 2016 and he finished 17th in 2014 in the same car (Bentley GT3)? It so obvious what's happened here. The laps were from a flying start but they realised they were all slower then Harris's and hence irrelevant, so they edited in the standing starts to add relevance. Harris beat them to the punch and outdid them. Of course if you can provide the full unedited hot laps, that show Ambrosia to be 5s D) faster than Harris, then I'll revise my opinion. But I have a very strong feeling that they will never emerge.
But 5s difference between two pro drivers is not insignificant (or even possible), so hence people are right to ask for evidence.
Proper comedy in the comments Porsche 918 beats McLaren P1 and "the Ferrari" in Grand Tour opening - FastestLaps.com Anyone has the translation of what D'Ambrosio actually thinks of the cars? Don't think he was particularly kind to the P1 if they changed them over that way for a laugh ...
I appreciate your enthusiasm for these cars but you will not get the answers you seek I feel unless you personally conduct a test yourself! Unless that is something you plan on doing, how about spreading that energy around to other parts of this board. There is a great world of cars out there to comment on, many just as special as these three in unique ways.
I can remember he said the LF was 'magnififique' and the best balanced of the three and overall he seemed very positive about it. I might have another look but I don't think he enjoyed the P1 so much, in fact he said it was the most difficult to drive and the easiest to make a mistake in. The Porsche he also said was very neutral, very easy to drive and with a great engine. All one can really take out of that is that his favourite was not the P1.
But those exist, you're the type of person I think that there will always be something you pick holes with. The weather, the driver, the tires, the track, etc. It's not worth it, just enjoy. You have 50 posts here and 40 of them have been about cars that there is a second or so between on a 3 mile race track. You won't get anyone who knows anything to declare there is a definite performance winner. So what are you trying to get out of it?
Where do the unedited laps exist? You will never see them, or if you do they will show a flying start.
Yes and also "Mycroft" and "Lmao". Nothing new under the sun. He is back in every car related forum to protect his beloved P3...😂
When you do, watch the alleged hot lap footage carefully and you'll also have your doubts as to what happened. Pay attention to the weather and sunlight in each cornering snippet as well as the order of the corners, on the P1 lap especially.
What what?😂 Edit your posts from mclife to other sites-gcf, ferrarichat, fastest lap, etc... Not just copy/paste them and then ask what... Haha
the laferrari has been described as a 458 on steroids and the 458 has many accolades attached to its name
But Ambrosia is further down the straight. Note building on right. And shouldn't he be faster given that he's allegedly lapping 5s quicker? The average speed for a 1:54 flying lap is 90.3mph. This guy is supposedly 5s quicker, or roughly 5%, so he should be 4.52mph quicker everywhere. In fact, since we know he can't have been quicker down to the first corner. That means he has 87% of the track to gain that 5s, so more like 5.2mph (8.35kph) faster on average everywhere else. The way that electric power is mixed in is very different between those cars. Collecting energy for electric reuse also works differently. Keep in mind all of these cars start out pre-charged. Once the first charge of electricity of gone you have a whole bunch more tradeoffs to make how you want to mix in better charge rates. IIRC the Porsche also allows no manual control over when and how it uses electric charge and the Ferrari does. If IRC there then that gives the Ferrari driver more to think about and it could be a huge advantage because you save electricity for acceleration when you know (and the car does not know) that you can use the kinetic energy you built longer. They have aero but it is mostly automatically adjusted. Whoever programmed the computer that now decides what the aero does has biased the car a bit toward higher top speed or more downforce. That makes different tracks more or less suitable for the car. When doing same-method power measuring Porsche and BMW cars usually display significantly more power than other manufacturers measured the same way, given same manufacturer's horsepower rating. Random dynos have no way to tell "truth" here because they can only measure wheel horsepower. I also have serious concerns that the absence of realistic airflow (except for one dyn install I know about) has more impact than people give it credit for. Especially for intercoolers. Given decision making that can be done at lap-time about KERS usage, aero (DRS), and recharge strategies I would argue that you will probably see the cars come out quite differently with different drivers. Using all those new toys to best effect can't be trivial and one car's controls will be more readily absorbable by one person, while another person's brain fits the other car better. This is almost airplane territory where adding a 2nd person as an engineer might pay off. (joking, but still) I liked the show. A lot.
Lol, still on about a subject you really appear to know sweet **** all about. D'ambrosio first of all drives in the PRO cup, whereas Harris is the the Amateur cup. Secondly, D'ambrosio finished where he did because he only competed in 3 rounds! Of course he's far down the field! That's as dumb as your suggestion that he only finished 23rd in 2012 F1 WDC, it was because he only competed in one ****ing race! If you truly believe that Harris is 5 legitimate seconds faster than an F1 driver, I have a bridge to sell you. That's about the dumbest thing I've heard in a long, long time. If he is THAT terrible, there's a bunch of current F1 drivers that need to hang their head in shame, and Chris almost certainly has the wrong job. He'd definitely be a world champion in the Mclaren, Sauber or Manor. Easily! Those cars are only 3 seconds of the pace at worst...christ we are missing out.
