I need to remove my console to replace my radio door that does not work properly, and I have the console ready to come out aside from the rear fasteners. looking at consoles for sale and parts diagrams there are 2 screws that need to come out- I tried pulling up the floor of the console gently- it seems the obvious choice to remove that and then remove the screws, but it wont budge. before I break something, does anyone know how I should access these fasteners? I have the early style console with the lid if it matters.

I don't get it. You show a picture of the fastener with clear access but you state that you cannot access it. What is the problem?

The leather tray area needs to come off. It's sheet metal wrapped in leather. Gently pry it up :)

The photo I posted is for a 355 but very similar :)
