interesting, I just finished an article on 246's and it mentioned 400hp on thr stratus and was about to contact german dino for more info clay
Beautiful, Freeman. I suspect there would be a market for these, as they let the intake roar thru while not requiring any body metal change. Would Simon be interested in making more of them, now that the hard work of making the prototype has been done? Jim Oddie
Jim, Maybe once he's finished his. I just installed the 16mm velocity stacks I special ordered from Webcon in the UK. I can feel an improvement in throttle response. I love the way my Dino is driving! The sound is like a Ferrari F2! Here's what it looks like inside the air box. Freeman Image Unavailable, Please Login
How many mm clearance does that give between the top of the stacks and the cover? PS- you can remove that big, stock filter box and hose now, for a cleaner, more classic look Jim Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, I have a total of 27mm from the base plate to the top inside of the air box. I could have more if I gave the top more crown. Part of why I think it works so well is because we lowered the base plate around the carb assembly and use a full size filter. This gives a lot of air flow and creates a ram effect. I also gave it extra space between the top and inside of the deck lid for over slam. So far it works really well w/o trumpets and with the trumpets you can feel a slightly better response. Next step is to experiment with "stubstacks" which are really short stacks/plates like what the Stratos box has. Yes, I'm planning on removing the air filter canister assembly. It'll open up a lot of room as you've mentioned. Freeman P.S. Early in this thread there's were some others that mentioned they had installed IDF's in Dinos. It would be of interest to see and hear about their developments. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here are the prototype mushroom shaped "stubstacks" we created. Seems to flow well. Initial tests show great promise! These are high heat resin. We're looking at making them out of aluminum. Freeman Image Unavailable, Please Login
At some point I'd love to do a video of driving and capturing the sound. The sound is glorious from inside the cabin! Freeman Image Unavailable, Please Login
i can try download the sound tomorrow to youtube full trottle to 8000 revs on each gear and very fast gearshifting
Fantastic! I'd love to see more of your development! Does your gearbox have the Colotti straight cut gears? Anything you can share would be appreciated. Freeman
Love the way you solved the height problem by dropping the air-box down, very clever and quite ingenious !!!! great stuff, cheers Kev.
Kevin, It was the result of a lot of brainstorming and mock-ups with Simon. We really wanted to use the Stratos/308 filter element. By limiting ourselves to no modifications to the deck lid, it forced us to be creative! Freeman
tomas i can not upload file i need to ask the master for that, it must be something wrong with internet!!!!! standard gearbox i did buy from dennis Mccan 44IDF stratos carbs, the car have been very fast side by side with Nicklas 308 328, and a 355 up to 3 gear, in the tail on a 458 he he very very different from a standard dino to drive maasive brakes and differnt suspension
Do you have any photos of your car and the engine? The NOS Stratos carb setup I have, also originally came from Dennis McCann. Freeman Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'll look up pictures as soon as I have time, i am doing one engine with this carbs right now for a customer on F chat test driving next week hopefully, you found the NOS carburetors, this is very hard to find, I do not think you can find another set for sale, Ferrari would have assembled them from the beginning, dcnf carburetor is pure crap to use on a Dino
Here is one that is available: FERRARI DINO 246 LANCIA STRATOS Doppelvergaser carburetor WEBER 40IDF29 40 IDF | eBay
