Place to eat Fri/Sat of Thanksgiving Week

Will be visiting Houston next week for Thanksgiving and want BBQ and other interesting places to eat for Fri and Sat. House of Pies has been mentioned. Any help would be appreciated.

 

What area of town will you be in? If I remember your daughter lives in the Pearland area? I'm probably not remembering correctly.

 

Seasons 52 does a great Thanksgiving offering.

 

She does live in Pearland. Great memory. We will travel for good food.

Have hit Killen's a couple of times already right after it opened. Great BBQ and free beer while you wait in line!

I agree, but one saving grace is Houston usually empties out over the holidays.

 

Armadillo Palace has great bands both evenings...Broken Spokes on Friday night, Mickey and the Motorcars on Saturday.

Big Easy will have Austin legend (but actually an Oka Forest Houston native) Alan Haynes on Saturday night.

The good thing about Armadillo Palace is Goode Seafood is also nearby, as well as the Taqueria.

14 Pews has a Potluck Thursday night and a movie.
I will be attending that....after getting back to town!

How did it go? We went to Flemings instead and regretted it.

 

Which Fleming's?

 

The Woodlands. They were running a Thanksgiving special and over booked. Apparently, they had over 700 tables turn yesterday.

It was so bad, they gave us a $50 gift card. We weren't the only ones to get a card.

 

Skip, CEO of Fleming's, and I know each other. Want me to give him a call?

 

Nah, that's cool. I appreciate it, though. They just bit off more than they could chew. I think we'll stick with the happy hour groove.

 

Swamped and started running out of stuff by the time we ate. There really wasn't any service to speak of, just an avalanche of turkey coming out the from the kitchen. The food was fair to good. Mostly lukewarm in temp. Wouldn't go back.

 

Sorry about that. It seems we both struck out.

 

Yes, I think if we had gone before 12 pm, the experience would have been better. Staff looked totally wiped out when we got there at 2 pm. The place was packed when we left at 3:30 pm.

 

Too bad, because it is normally a great place to eat a variety of good food. Oh well, success and the restaurant business. If you make it to The Woodlands, let me know, and I'll make it up to you.
